FROM SYLHET TO ST PANCRAS: BENGALI HISTORY IN CAMDEN 📷

Step into Camden’s history and discover the stories of Bengali communities who helped shape the borough between 1970 and 2000.

Created by our colleagues at Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre, this fascinating exhibition brings together beautiful photographs, pamphlets, flyers and archival material documenting Bengali home life, community organisations, education initiatives and activism in Camden.

Highlights include never-before-seen photographs from the late 1970s, a re-staging of the Bengali Workers’ Association’s Here & There project, and a special section exploring the 1984 occupation of Camden Town Hall, when unhoused Bengali families came together to demand safe housing.

A powerful glimpse into a formative chapter of Camden’s history – and the people and communities who made it. ❤️

🚨 6 DAYS TO GO: MEET JEREMY B 🚨

Six days until Inverness Street Bloc Party: DISCO HOUSE - and we’re turning the spotlight to a true unsung hero of house music. 🪩

With a career spanning decades, Jeremy B has brought his soulful, uplifting sound to dancefloors around the world, with residencies at legendary venues including Ministry of Sound and Kinky Malinki.

From Ibiza to Dubai, and from Defected to Sunrise and Raindance, his sets are all about infectious energy, positive vibes and a deep love of soul, funk and disco.

And he’s not just behind the decks. Jeremy’s production and remix work includes collaborations with artists such as David Morales, Donell Jones, Pink and Byron Stingily.

But there’s a special Camden connection too. Jeremy grew up in the area, attending Hungerford School and living on Camden Road before moving to Jamaica as a child - eventually returning to Camden in his teens.

Now he’s coming back to the streets of Camden to bring some serious soulful house energy to Inverness Street. ❤️

We’re officially ONE WEEK away from Inverness Street Bloc Party: DISCO HOUSE. 👀

With more than 20 years of DJing experience around the world, The She-Jay knows how to read a crowd and keep a dancefloor moving. Her musical knowledge stretches across genres, so expect the unexpected when she takes to the decks.

From five years playing Cross The Tracks Festival and residencies across London’s Boxpark venues, to taking dancefloors from The Gambia to Tuscany, she’s played for crowds and brands everywhere from Arsenal FC to Soho House, Adidas and Moët & Chandon.

Now she’s bringing that encyclopaedic knowledge, serious versatility and big party energy to Inverness Street. 🎶

🎨 MY ESCAPE: MEET THE ARTISTS – Hells Gibson

What does escape mean to you?

For artist , it starts with a walk. 🚶‍♀️

As a Londoner who walks everywhere, Hells finds plenty of inspiration simply by wandering through the city – observing, thinking and taking it all in.

Her My Escape artwork, Woolf, 2026, takes its inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s famous words about walking through London and escaping into the city. And, of course, there’s a nod to the humble bench – the perfect place to pause when you’ve been walking, walking, walking…

In her signature bold graphic style, Hells turns everyday life, love, London and everything in between into art with plenty of honesty and humour.

Her work is one of 35 artworks created by members of the Camden Artist Network for My Escape, now taking over the art benches at King’s Cross.

🪩 BLOC PARTY SPOTLIGHT: TOSCA 🪩

If you know Camden’s club culture, you’ll know Tosca.

A longtime DJ and original Electric Ballroom resident, Tosca has been part of Camden’s music scene for decades - from the roller disco to the dancefloor and beyond.

Now a resident at 40 Something Disco and a regular presenter on Solar Radio, Tosca continues to bring that same love of music and Camden energy wherever he plays. 🎶

And this August Bank Holiday, he’s bringing it to Inverness Street for DISCO HOUSE. Expect good music, good people and plenty of reasons to get on the dancefloor. 🪩

🎨 MY ESCAPE: MEET THE ARTISTS – Salma Zulfiqar

What does escape mean to you?

For artist and filmmaker , it’s a journey beyond the boundaries of reality – exploring surrealism, culture, nature and self-expression through her art.

In her My Escape artwork, recycled materials take on a new life, with everything from discarded contact lenses to recycled canvas becoming part of her creative process.

Inspired by the world around her, Salma transforms everyday materials and ideas into surreal, dream-like imagery that invites us to look at things differently and find new possibilities in the ordinary.

Her work is one of 35 artworks created by members of the Camden Artist Network for My Escape, now taking over the art benches at King’s Cross.

BLOC PARTY SPOTLIGHT: BABY CEY & JESTER (ITCH RADIO)🎧

We’re shining a spotlight on two exciting young artists bringing the next generation of Camden talent to our Inverness Street Bloc Party: DISCO HOUSE this August Bank Holiday.

Meet Baby Cey and Jester – two emerging DJs and broadcasters who have developed their skills with Itch Radio, and who are now stepping onto the Bloc Party stage ❤️

Baby Cey is a Camden-based DJ, presenter and host of La Femme Club on Itch Radio. Having developed her craft through Itch Radio’s broadcasting workshops, she brings smooth RnB, soulful melodies and feel-good energy to her sets.

Jester is an emerging DJ and broadcaster and host of Face For Radio. She developed her skills through Itch Radio CIC’s Future on Air Radio & Podcasting Workshops, and is now bringing her love of House and Disco to the Bloc Party.

It’s brilliant to see the journey from developing skills through Itch Radio’s programmes to performing live in the heart of Camden – and we’re proud to support opportunities like this for young creatives to build confidence, gain experience and share their talent with their community.

Come and catch Baby Cey and Jester alongside an incredible line-up of DJs and artists at DISCO HOUSE this August.

🎨 MY ESCAPE: MEET THE ARTISTS - Natasha Marshall

What does escape mean to you?

For Camden artist and printmaker Natasha (), it’s found right here in the city – in the green spaces, swimming spots and quiet moments that make Camden feel like home. 🌿

From sketching and walking on Hampstead Heath and running on Primrose Hill, to year-round swims at Parliament Hill Lido, these places give her space to slow down, reconnect with nature and recharge creatively.

Her artwork brings those experiences together through brass rubbings, Play-Doh prints, drawing, watercolour and gouache – celebrating the joy of finding your own creative escape without ever having to leave London.

Her work is one of 35 artworks by members of the Camden Artist Network featured in My Escape, now taking over the art benches at King’s Cross.

🖼️ MY ESCAPE: CAMDEN ARTISTS TAKE OVER KING’S CROSS

We’re so proud to see the incredible talent of our Camden Artist Network out in the open this summer. ❤️

My Escape brings together work from 35 Camden artists, transforming the art benches across Granary Square and King’s Boulevard into a free outdoor exhibition.

From painting and photography to textiles and mixed media, the exhibition explores what “escape” means to each artist — and the different ways Camden’s creatives find inspiration, freedom and stillness in the city.

🎥 And there’s more to come… Over the coming weeks, we’ll be hearing directly from the artists through a series of short video interviews, exploring the stories and inspiration behind their work, their creative practices and what it means to be part of Camden’s creative community.

The Camden Artist Network, an initiative from Camden Council’s Culture team, Love Camden, now has 450+ members and offers free opportunities to connect, collaborate and take part in commissions, exhibitions and more.
