🎉 Camden's South Asian Heritage Month programme is LIVE!

Get ready for a summer of theatre, exhibitions, film, food and community celebrations showcasing the cultures, creativity and stories of South Asian communities across Camden.

officially runs throughout July, but we're getting started early with CAMDENWALLA opening this Thursday - and there's more still to be announced!

🎭 CAMDENWALLA | 17 June – 4 July
A powerful new play inspired by Camden's anti-racism movement in the 1990s.

🖼️ Lancelot Ribeiro: A Retrospective Revisited | Swiss Cottage Gallery | 1 July – 6 August | FREE
A major exhibition exploring migration, memory and cultural identity.

🎨 Spirit of South Asia: Bangladeshi Community in Camden | Swiss Cottage Gallery Atrium Space | Until 6 August | FREE
A community-led exhibition celebrating local stories and heritage, led by artist Bablu Miah .

💚 Community-powered Windrush celebrations next Saturday! 💚

Community is at the core of what we do, so it's wonderful to be bringing so many organisations and community groups together who support our borough all year round 🤝🌍

We'll be sharing more in the coming days but to mention a few, we're delighted to welcome:

Talacre Play Service (.acre): thriving local hub who will be leading family play activities
Joining Communities CIC (): local residents and community organisation are holding a stall where people can learn about their mental health hub, activities and support
Camden Black British History Community Hub: hosting their annual tea party 'Our Beloved Elders'
Itch Radio (): Camden-based community radio station and youth broadcasting collective who will be performing on stage and gathering broadcast experience on the day
Dan Carrier ( and the ): Local DJ spinning heritage music selection in the marketplace
Steel Pan Music CIC ( ): local grassroots music collective who will be sharing the joy of steel pan music through demos and engagement
Elevate Advocacy () - a social enterprise committed to supporting care leavers, individuals involved in the criminal justice system and young homeless individuals will have an info stall

🎤 We’re delighted to announce that Shelley Paterson will be joining the post-talk discussion at the Annual Pitt Lecture 2026, alongside Cllr Sabrina Francis, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Young People and Culture, following the keynote address from Marcus Ryder MBE.

Born and raised in Camden, Shelley is a writer, cultural commentator and founder of blackpeoplesbusiness, a cultural blog & platform exploring Black life through commentary, conversation and storytelling. Her work examines Black identity, society and lived experience through personal reflection and cultural analysis. Drawing from her experiences as a Black woman in the UK, she explores the complexities of contemporary Black British life.

🌦️ The weather may not have got the summery memo... but that didn't stop Camden from bringing joyful vibes for our Summer Street Fiesta on Saturday! 🎶💃

A huge thank you to all of our amazing performers, partners and contributors who kept the energy levels sky high despite the rain and got everyone involved throughout the day. It was fantastic to see people of all ages coming together and making the most of everything on offer, brollies in hand ☔❤️

Whether you joined in the dance workshops with 💃, got creative with the artwork and family activities from 🎨, enjoyed the incredible sounds of 🎺 and the scene-stealing 🥁, or jumped into a kickabout with 's very own Gunnersaurus ⚽, there was something for everyone.

We were also treated to brilliant performances from the talented young people of and 's Remix Dance School 🌟, while local legends 🎵 brought their unmistakable Camden energy to close the day in style.

And one of our favourite moments? Watching join forces with and for a cultural crossover nobody saw coming... but everyone loved! 😂❤️🥁⚽🎵

Thank you to everyone who came along, joined in, performed and helped make it such a memorable day. Rain or shine, Camden always knows how to party
