It's National Gardening Week! We wanted to take the opportunity to throwback to last year when our neighbouring SSAFA Devon branch launched the June Best Garden.

In partnership with the Gordon Messenger Centre, work on the garden started in 2024 with an incredible 250 volunteers coming together under the ethos of “by veterans for veterans” to bring the garden to life.

Two years on, thegarden has successfully transformed the area into a haven for relaxation, connection, and healing.

Will you Purple Up! to show your support for service children?

April is the Month of the Military Child — a time to highlight service children, reminding people of the positive impact they make in their schools and communities and the challenges they face.

There are an estimated 121,600 service children in the UK and every year thousands say goodbye to someone they love as they leave for deployment with some lasting days, weeks or months.

Being a military child is living with not knowing when mum, dad or caregiver will return home, it's dodgy wifi catch ups and milestones missed, but it's more than that — it’s a sense of pride in their loved one's job, it’s having friends from around the world and making new ones all the time. It’s surprise visits, it's community, it's belonging.

Being a military child means so many different things to so many children.

To honour Month of the Military Child, we asked children from across the UK, Cyprus and Brunei a few questions about what it means to them...
