Rollers first took to the stage 10 years ago, and since then, a lot has changed. Our theatres have grown, as have our fandom and average age. Babies have been born, houses have been bought, marathons have been run. Careers have changed, a pandemic has been endured, and hearts have been broken and mended.
Over this tumultuous decade, there is one thing has remained constant here, and that’s love, actually. Love for our friends, families and colleagues that are STILL dragging themselves out for pints of wine on rainy Thursday nights and screaming for us as if we’re the Beatles. Love for the endless patience and support we continue to give each other, even when we’re busy with work and life, and the LAST thing we want to do is learn/teach another harmony line or box step. Love for the crew who continue to show up and work tirelessly, who make the shows possible and get hardly any credit. Love for those of us who put themselves forwards to be on the prod team, spending their evenings and weekends making difficult casting decisions, choreographing numbers, making apple pie costumes and writing band parts (even when we promised they wouldn’t need to this time). And, of course, our love for putting on these shows, being on stage, and pouring our whole hearts into showing you a good time.
10 years on, it’s extra special that we had the privilege of welcoming back OG Rollers, brand new ones, and a whole gaggle that have been picked up along the way. We hope you enjoyed our Spectacular Spectacular, a love letter to musicals, to each other, and to you.
