DONATE TO SUPPORT OUR HOSPITAL FARMING IN NORTHERN UGNADA

https://www.kindlink.com/fundraising/Medaid-United-Kingdom/3284

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS

First and foremost this is a huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended our fundraiser event.

On the 18th of May 2024, 450 wonderful individuals attended our fundraising event held at Maher Center In Leicester.

As you will be well aware the fundraising event was in the aid of Leicester Children hospital, who had a fundraising target of £2,500.

We are very excited to inform you that we collectively have surpassed that amount with ease due to the amazing contributions from all those who attended. At the moment the total money raised is £5,000.

MEDAID UNITED KINGDOM as you will know is a charity that operates in the UK and in Africa. In light of the support from the local community and we thought it appropriate to give something back to the local cause. It was a pleasure to see how many of you were able to help us in supporting a more local cause.

MEDAID UNITED KINGDOM would like to say a few specific thanks to these following individuals:

1: LORD-LIEUTENANT OF LEICESTERSHIRE, MR MIKE KAPUR (OBE CStJ)
2: Hon JANE HUNT MP OF LOUGHBOROUGH
3: Dhiru Shah

What next for MEDAID?

Our next focus will be to concentrate on our hospital farming initiative in Uganda. As food is not readily available in hospitals for patients in Uganda, the aim is to produce food locally that can be given to those in need whilst in care in two of our rural hospital projects in Adwir Community Health Centre, Alebtong District and Alemere Medical Aid Uganda Community Health Centre, in Amolatar District Northern Uganda.

Up until recently, a tractor for which the funds for were donated by CART (Christian African Relief Trust) was used to farm the food.
This tractor needs repairing and we are currently looking at the options of gaining another tractor so two can be used at the same time.

Keep your eyes out for developments on our next charitable objective!

To end this we would like to say a huge thank you again to everyone involved in raising funds for the Leicester Children hospital.
It could not have been done without your kindness, involvement or efforts.

Yours sincerely, on behalf of everyone at MEDAID UK

Medaid UK today raising money for Leicester Children Hospital

18/05/2024

We would like to thank all our supporters and partners for supporting our hospital framing project in Adwir Sub-county Alebtong District Northern Uganda. The first part of the first season we have grown 22 acres of rice, 4.5 acres of white sorghum, an acre of water melon and sweet potatoes. We are going to have plant more acres of white sorghum, white beans and sweet potatoes.

The food we produce locally is used to feed the children and patients in our rural hospital in Alemere Medical Aid Uganda, Amolatar District Northern Uganda and Adwir Community Health Centre. Part of the food is sold to generate money locally to buy medicines to treat the patients.

In the second season in July/August our plan is to grow 60 acres of the above crops. To help us grow the above crops in large quantities we need a tractor. Our tractor is currently not working because the rear tyres need replacement and also it requires minor repairs and service.

We would like to request our supporters to help us raise money to buy the rear tyres of the tractor and service our tractor.
