Welcoming the New Hijri Year 1448H | Monday, 15 June 2026
📍Surau Malaysia Hall, London

Alhamdulillah, we gathered at Surau Malaysia Hall to welcome the arrival of the new Hijri year, 1448H.

In his tazkirah, Mr. Rusydi reminded us that the beginning of a new year is an opportunity to turn back to Allah, renew our intentions, and strive to become better servants of Him.

He also encouraged us to increase our salawat upon the Prophet (SAW), as abundant salawat nurtures love and closeness to him in our hearts. Through that love, we are inspired to learn his noble character, follow his blessed way of life, and attain the love and forgiveness of Allah.

May Allah make this new Hijri year a means of drawing closer to Him and His Beloved Messenger (SAW), grant us steadfastness upon the path of goodness, and bless us to become better Muslims, better children to our parents, better parents to our children, better spouses, better students, better workers, and better members of our communities. May He fulfil our righteous aspirations, answer our sincere prayers, and make this year a year of goodness, barakah, and nearness to Him.

For those wishing to increase their adhkar and supplications during the first 10 days of Muharram, you may refer to our Muharram Dua Booklet:

Thursday Majlis | 14 May 2026
📍Surau Malaysia Hall, London

Alhamdulillah, our weekly Thursday Majlis continued as usual with the recitation of qasaid, Yasin, Tahlil, tazkirah and Maghrib prayer in congregation.

This week, we were honoured to receive a special guest from Education Malaysia London, Datuk Dr Ahmad Shukri bin Md Salleh, Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist, who also served as the Personal Physician to His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia from 2006–2009.

In his reminder, Datuk Dr Ahmad Shukri spoke about making the most of our limited time in this world. He encouraged us to focus on the present and strive for husnul khatimah (a good ending), rather than becoming overly preoccupied with the past.

He reminded us that Allah SWT created us, and everything around us, ultimately for the purpose of the Hereafter. Therefore, whatever blessings, skills and opportunities Allah has given us should be utilised in ways that please Him. He also emphasised that while Islam encourages hard work and excellence, we must never forget that our rizq comes from Allah SWT, not from our efforts alone.

The second session continued with our reading of Bidayatul Hidayah by Imam al-Ghazali, delivered by Mr Rusydi, General Manager of SEAIC UK.

Continuing from the previous lesson on lying, the discussion moved to the danger of breaking promises. Imam al-Ghazali warns believers not to make promises lightly, and if a promise is made, it should only be broken in genuine situations of necessity. Mr Rusydi reminded the congregation of the famous hadith of the Prophet (SAW):

"The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when entrusted, he betrays the trust."

The lesson then moved on to the subject of ghibah (backbiting). Imam al-Ghazali strongly warns believers against speaking about others in a way they would dislike, even if what is said is true.

Mr Rusydi also highlighted a subtle form of backbiting that can arise through showing off piety, such as saying, "What has happened to our brother? I heard he did this and that, may Allah rectify him," while actually exposing another person's faults. If our intention is truly to help someone, then sincere private advice is often the better path.

The Majlis concluded with food, fellowship and warm conversations among the community. We pray that Allah SWT places barakah in these gatherings, protects our tongues and hearts from sin, and grants us the ability to live lives that are pleasing to Him through the way of the Prophet (SAW).

Salam Maal Hijrah 1448H 🌙

As we enter a new Hijri year, we thank Allah SWT for allowing us to witness another year of His mercy and guidance.

The Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) reminds us of faith, sacrifice, perseverance and complete trust in Allah. It is a reminder to renew our intentions, strengthen our relationship with Allah, and strive to become better Muslims.

As 1448H begins, let us reflect on the year that has passed, seek forgiveness for our shortcomings, and look ahead with hope and reliance upon Allah SWT.

May Allah bless this new year with His mercy, guidance and protection. May He forgive our sins, accept our good deeds, keep us steadfast upon the path of His beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and grant goodness for us, our families and our community in this life and the next. 🤲🏼

A New Chapter for KAFA International (Asia)
Thursday 29 January 2026 / 10 Sha'ban 1447H

Earlier this year, during a visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Mr. Rusydi Azmi and Shaykh Mohammad Zaki bin Ismail visited SEAIC UK's newly established office, which serves as the operational base for KAFA International (Asia).

KAFA International is SEAIC UK's flagship online madrasah programme for children. Whilst KAFA International (UK) serves families across the United Kingdom and Europe, growing demand from families in the Asia-Pacific region led to the launch of a dedicated Asia branch, providing structured English-medium Islamic education to children across multiple countries.

The visit provided an opportunity to catch up with the local team, review the programme's early progress, and discuss plans for future development. Today, students from Malaysia, Singapore, China, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand are already enrolled, benefiting from a carefully structured curriculum delivered entirely in English.

We would like to recognise the efforts of Mudirah Fikrah Jasri, Headteacher of KAFA International (Asia), and Cikgu Fatihah Nazarudin, Director of Education at SEAIC UK, whose dedication has been instrumental in establishing and growing the programme.

The visit also marked the formal welcome of Mudirah Fikrah as a full-time staff member of the SEAIC UK team. We are grateful for her contributions thus far and look forward to the continued development of KAFA International (Asia) under her leadership.

As SEAIC UK continues to expand its educational work internationally, initiatives such as KAFA International help ensure that Muslim families have access to quality Islamic education regardless of their location. We ask all of our community and dear donors to keep our team and work in their duas.

May Allah Most High bless this effort, grant it acceptance, and make it a means of nurturing generations of young Muslims upon faith, knowledge, and good character.

Community Majlis & Ta’aruf Session (Get to Know SEAIC UK) | 31 May 2026
📍Coventry, UK

On Sunday, 31 May 2026, SEAIC UK had the opportunity to meet members of the Southeast Asian Muslim community in Coventry through a special Community Majlis and Ta’aruf Session.

The gathering began with a recitation from Surah Al-Ma’idah by Hafidh Adib, highlighting Allah's command:

"Cooperate with one another in goodness and righteousness, and do not cooperate in sin and transgression." (5:2)

This verse beautifully set the tone for the evening as we reflected on the importance of working together to strengthen our community and preserve our faith for future generations.

The session continued with an introduction to SEAIC UK by our General Manager, Mr Rusydi, and Trustee, Mr Amer. They shared the humble beginnings of this work, which started almost 15 years ago under the leadership of our CEO & Executive Imam, Shaykh Zaki. What began as small Quran and Islamic knowledge classes after restaurant operating hours at TukDin Restaurant gradually expanded into gatherings in community homes and eventually led to the establishment of our own mosque, Sofa London Mosque, in 2018.

They also explained the recent rebranding from The Suffa Educational Foundation to the South East Asian Islamic Council (SEAIC UK). As our work grew beyond education and community programmes, it became clear that the organisation was serving a wider role for the Southeast Asian Muslim community.

Today, SEAIC UK functions similarly to Islamic councils such as JAKIM in Malaysia and MUIS in Singapore, providing services including zakat collection and distribution, nikah services, shahadah and convert care, funerals, aqiqah, Islamic education, pastoral support and community development.

The evening then continued with a short reminder by Mr Rusydi on the importance of seeking knowledge. He reminded us of the hadith of the Prophet (SAW) that seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim. This refers first and foremost to Fardhu'ain knowledge — knowing Allah SWT, understanding our faith, learning how to worship correctly, and living according to the teachings of Islam.

He further emphasised that the life of the Prophet (SAW) is the perfect example for every Muslim. From the smallest matters, such as how we wear our shoes, to the greatest responsibilities of leadership and governance, the Sunnah provides guidance for every aspect of life. By striving to follow the example of the Messenger of Allah (SAW), we develop greater consciousness of Allah and find deeper meaning and purpose in our daily lives.

The gathering concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where community members asked thoughtful questions and learned more about SEAIC UK's work and vision. The evening ended with good food, warm conversations and new friendships.

We thank everyone who attended, contributed, and brought food for the gathering. May Allah place barakah in this effort, strengthen the bonds within our community, and allow us to meet again in goodness and remembrance of Him. Ameen.
