🎉 Alhamdulillah, we would like to announce to everyone that our dear beloved Executive Imam and CEO, Shaykh Zaki Ismail is back in the UK. He arrived safely back into Heathrow on Monday morning and will be with us until the end of the year inshaAllah. He has been very hard at work exploring new opportunities and strengthening connections in Malaysia and Singapore.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing some very exciting news and other great wins worth celebrating for SEAIC UK and the primary communities it serves - SEA Muslims across the UK and wider afield.

In recognition of the recent visit to the United Kingdom by YB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, we look back on a very special moment in the journey of SEAIC UK.

One year ago, in September 2025, YB Dato’ Seri Utama signed our commemorative plaque at the annual Maulid al-Mustofa Conference in Kuala Lumpur, marking the soft launch of our new identity as the South East Asian Islamic Council UK (SEAIC UK). Also known in Malay as Majlis Agama Islam Asia Tenggara UK.

For SEAIC UK, this was a significant moment of recognition. Having Malaysia’s Foreign Minister personally mark this milestone was deeply meaningful to us and reflected the importance of the critical work we do to serve Malay and wider South East Asian Muslim communities across the United Kingdom.

The occasion was facilitated by our Charity's dear Patron, Dato’ Haji Dr. Muhammad Fuad bin Kamaludin. We extend our sincere appreciation to Dato’ Haji Dr. Muhammad Fuad for helping to host this special moment and for his continued support of SEAIC UK and its mission.

From Islamic education and religious guidance to welfare, community services, and support for families, students, and individuals in need, SEAIC UK continues to fulfil a vital role in our growing community.

One year on, we remain deeply grateful for this historic milestone and for the continued support of our community, a number of senior government officials and members of royalty, and we pray that Allah (SWT) continues to place barakah in our work and strengthen our ability to serve our diaspora communities for generations to come.

Monthly Majlis: Full Recitation of Qasidah Burdah

For over 700 years, Muslims across the world, from Spain to Malaysia, have recited the Qasidah Burdah, Imam al-Busiri’s celebrated poem in praise and love of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Its words have been studied and explained by great scholars, including Imam al-Zarkashi, Imam al-Qastallani, Shaykh al-Islam Zakariyya al-Ansari, Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, Imam al-Bajuri and Imam Ibn Ajibah.

Join us every month as we gather to recite the Burdah in full, send salawat upon the Prophet (SAW), and continue this centuries-old tradition of love, learning and devotion.

Applied Arabic: Understand What You Recite Course | Week 1: Surah Al- Fatihah

📖 What did we learn in Week 1?

We began our Arabic course by exploring Surah Al-Fatihah, the opening chapter of the Quran and an essential part of every rakaat of our daily Salah.

The session went beyond translation. Students were introduced to the basics of Sarf (morphology) and Nahw (syntax), as well as variations in Quranic Qira’at, such as “Maaliki” and “Maliki”, to see how Arabic language and structure can deepen our understanding of the verses.

Through a word-by-word analysis, we explored the deeper meanings behind al-Fatihah — from recognising Allah as our Lord, Master and Owner of the Day of Judgement, to understanding the concepts of ‘Ibādah (worship) and Isti‘ānah (seeking help), and our continuous du‘a for guidance upon the Sirāt al-Mustaqīm.

Ultimately, the aim is simple: to connect the Arabic we learn with the words we recite every day, so that our Salah can be filled with greater understanding, appreciation and khushu’. 🤍
