https://linktr.ee/thecompassionatefriendsuk HELPLINE: The Compassionate Friends Telephone Helpline is open 365 days a year. Your call is always answered by a bereaved parent who is there to listen and offer support anyone who has lost a child, grandchild or sibling. Open every day 10am-4pm and 7-10pm. You can ring if you are struggling today, need to talk, or perhaps would like info about local su

pport/groups. You can ring as often as you like - like all our support there is no 'cut off' time. FORUM: The Compassionate Friends also has an online Forum where you can 'talk' with and get support from other bereaved parents. You do have to register for this, which may take 24-48 hours to process. This is to ensure complete security for you. But it is an absolutely wonderful support. The FORUM is accessible on the TCF website - www.tcf.org.uk. Click on Forum (along the top bar) and then Register (on the left hand side) - then follow the instructions. Cooper's dad, Kelly, has written about how men might grieve, and finding a balance between grieving alone and finding support amongst others:

"Men, how ought we to grieve the loss of our child? With rugged determination and grit, certainly, but also, not alone. My humble admonition is this: do not do it alone. Go in together, come out together. Lace your solitude with compassionate family and friends ‘who know’ and will put a hand on your shoulder and not leave you during the darkest night of your soul.
Especially in the loss of a child, practice tight togetherness. You need not walk alone."

Our next online support group for parents bereaved through a Road Traffic Incident (RTI) will be on Thursday 2 July from 7-8.30pm.

A parent who previously joined us said, "The importance of this group is that we had all lost a child in an RTC and I had finally not felt alone...I came away not feeling alone and I was listened to."

Looking after yourself and preparing for special occasions can feel complicated. Ahead of Father's Day this Sunday, it may be useful to think about how you might want to spend the day. Whether you want to spend time with loved ones, do something special to remember your child, or let the day pass as any other day; finding what feels right to you may help it to pass more gently.
