Don't scroll by - We need your vote! If you live, work or study anywhere in Newham please vote for us in their People Powered Places community funding round.
Our Magpie Mums would love to share their songs and stories with women in the wider community - they have the training, we have the building, and we just need a bit of funding to make it all happen.
In troubled times, women singing together - across cultures, languages, generations - it's pretty much what we all need!
PLEASE take 5 minutes to register to vote for us, (see the QR code) too.
Then share, share, spread the word!

As soon as we moved in to our new building – the Grassroots Resource Centre – we had dreams of leveraging this lovely space for our community in exciting and innovative new ways

One part of this was bartering space in which select partner professionals can operate - in exchange for services given to our mums and minis for free. A simple idea to unlock space in which solidarity and support between the wonderful local community and our newly-arrived families can grow.

So here it is – unveiled – our Healing Community clinics.

You get - first class Osteopathy and Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy – our mums get the same!

We heal our communities together!

BUT...

We are not done yet - we are planning Reiki, Massage and other therapeutic interventions on the same basis - your paid treatment subsidises a treatment for our mums or minis.

Tackling the housing emergency and ending child poverty in London are inextricably linked.

Many of our fantastic members are campaigning hard to put housing at the top of the General Election agenda. Please share and support their important campaigns⬇️

Shelter's open letter calls on party leaders to rebuild our broken housing system by building social homes & creating the fairer renting system that will end the housing emergency. 1 in 4 of those living in Temporary Accommodation have inadequate cooking facilities. This means that in Newham alone, where 4in10 member The Magpie Project is based, more than 170 under-9s & 380 under-18s will go without a home-cooked meal tonight as they live in hotels with no kitchen. The work The Magpie Project does to support families to feed their children is truly invaluable but they shouldn’t have to do it. That is why they've launched ‘No child in a home without a kitchen’ campaign. Read the campaign group's briefing & support here: https://themagpieproject.org/hope-for-a-home-with-a-kitchen/

London Assembly Housing Ctte highlights rising S.21 evictions as driver of family homelessness in their report here: https://bit.ly/4c78s9f.
4in10 members, Renters Rights London, Toynbee Hall Z2K and Shelter are all part of the Renters Reform Coalition which is demanding private renting reform. You can find out how to support here: https://rentersreformcoalition.co.uk/

The wonderful bringing stories to live in a new mural at their new Grassroots Centre.

As part of of Newham Festival of Stories, theatre director Nell Hardy worked with Magpie mums’ to gather their thoughts on ‘home’. This moving and vibrant mural was created by artist Melissa Kitty Jarram inspired by their words.
