British Exploring Society

British Exploring Society A world class youth development charity with a unique heritage founded on the belief that challenging experiences in remote locations can change lives.

We take young people to remote locations where they face challenges, gain skills and learn about themselves and the fragile environments that they explore. They return with a new-found confidence and self-belief which they carry forward to their future life. More than this, they forge friendships for life and become part of a unique community of explorers with shared perspectives on the world.

Share a message of encouragement to our Young Explorers.

Our Young Explorers are in the final stages of preparation for their British Exploring Society expeditions. Whether they’re heading to Knoydart or Kyrgyzstan, many will be feeling that mix of excitement and nerves about the challenges ahead.

You don’t need expedition experience to contribute. We’ve all had moments where we’ve had to dig deep, stay positive, or find the confidence when it mattered. If you have one piece of everyday wisdom – a mindset, a mantra, a tip that helps you keep going, we’d love for you to share it.

Your words could be just what they need when it counts most.

Please share your message by 10am Monday 29th June so we can pass it on to our Young Explorers at the start of July. Thank you.

It’s a few weeks into National Walking Month and we’ve loved seeing how our community is embracing the spirit of a micro-expedition close to home.

If you haven’t joined in yet, there’s still time.

Take a walk. Notice something new. Share what you discover.

We’re accepting submissions until 26th May, with selected entries featuring in our e-newsletter The Ration Pack and across our social channels at the end of the month.

Simply tag us to share or email [email protected] to keep your journey going.

This National Walking Month, we are encouraging our community to take on a micro-expedition and share what you discover.

The idea is simple:
Step outside, walk with curiosity, and notice something new in the places we often pass by every day.

Selected submissions will be featured in our next edition of The Ration Pack and across our social channels at the end of the month.

Where might your next walk take you?

‘We Belong Here’ – out now on YouTube 🎥 🎬

Many of our young people join us after having gone through challenging experiences in life. As a charity, we offer them space and time away from the pressures of their everyday environments. So each young person can begin to reflect and figure out where they want to go next in life.

Rahim found out about us by chance, after his psychiatrist suggested he seek out an outdoor adventure to help with his diagnosis of PTSD. His expedition was transformative - not just for him but also for the people who joined him in the wilderness that summer.
