We take young people to remote locations where they face challenges, gain skills and learn about themselves and the fragile environments that they explore. They return with a new-found confidence and self-belief which they carry forward to their future life. Our Young Explorers are in the final stages of preparation for their British Exploring Society expeditions. Whether they’re heading to Knoydart or Kyrgyzstan, many will be feeling that mix of excitement and nerves about the challenges ahead.

You don’t need expedition experience to contribute. We’ve all had moments where we’ve had to dig deep, stay positive, or find the confidence when it mattered. If you have one piece of everyday wisdom – a mindset, a mantra, a tip that helps you keep going, we’d love for you to share it.

It’s a few weeks into National Walking Month and we’ve loved seeing how our community is embracing the spirit of a micro-expedition close to home.

This National Walking Month, we are encouraging our community to take on a micro-expedition and share what you discover.

The idea is simple:
Step outside, walk with curiosity, and notice something new in the places we often pass by every day.
