Survivors face long-term psychological, social, and physical issues. Shockingly, 500,000 UK people experience long-term ill health following cancer treatment.
2.5 million people face cancer in the UK, yet survivors currently receive little to no support to help deal with the aftermath of treatment. In fact, more widely, there’s sparse information on life after cancer, with scant clinical research
. Nine out of ten survivors find the end of treatment just as traumatic as the original diagnosis (Breast Cancer Care) and Mission Remission is dedicated to helping the millions of people facing the challenges of life after cancer. We support cancer survivors move forward after treatment to live happy, healthy, independent lives. Our mission is to improve the experience of cancer recovery for everyone. We help our 15k+ community by running support groups, online meetups, bookclubs, our ‘walk and talk’ activity campaign and fitness sessions. We’ve got grand plans for this year and want to support the NHS to:
-Help people feel happy, healthy, & independent after treatment
-Help people get diagnosed with cancer earlier & reduce cancer deaths
-Build strong personal relationships between people and their health teams
-Improve the experience for those dealing with cancer
