THURSDAY 8 October: INTERNATIONAL SALVATION ARMY
Ghana Territory
We pray today for the work of The Salvation Army in Ghana and Togo, giving thanks for the faithfulness of God’s people in witness, worship and service. We pray particularly for the Army’s work with children, that God will use Salvationists to inspire a new generation of Spirit-filled believers across Ghana and Togo. We pray for the territorial leadership: for Colonels Seth and Janet Appeateng and Lieut-Colonel Ireen Hacamba.

WEDNESDAY 7 October: JUSTICE AND RECONCILIATION
Reconciliation (Matthew 5:23-24)
Jesus invites his followers to prioritise relationships over ritual. If we are to experience earth as it is in heaven, reconciliation cannot be an optional extra; it must be part of faithful discipleship. Relational God, help us to value people above performance and love above legalism. Give us courage to seek reconciliation and grace to restore broken relationships.

TUESDAY 6 October: SERVING AND CARING
Candidates Unit Training (6-8 Oct)
This week we pray for those who support people in the candidates’ process, as they gather for training and for an introduction to a new system. Pray for strong discernment practices, robust systems, and skilled mentors to inspire and guide people into spiritual leadership that will make a difference in today’s world. Pray that all who attend will be equipped and inspired.

Today we are holding a Body, Mind and Soul day to encourage spiritual leaders, employees and others to consider how they might care for themselves holistically. Pray that there will be a tangible sense of God’s presence, and that those who attend will be encouraged to put into practice all they have learnt.

SUNDAY 4 October: SABBATH PRAYER
Homelessness Sunday
As we give thanks for the gift of our homes this Sabbath Sunday, we pray for those who don’t have a comfortable place to rest.
Lord Jesus, you came proclaiming good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, hope for the forgotten and dignity for the overlooked. Open our eyes to what you see. Open our ears to what you are saying. Open our hearts to those experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. As we pray, help us to move beyond sympathy into compassion, beyond concern into action, and beyond awareness into faithful response.

SATURDAY 3 October: CARE FOR CREATION
Farmers and Farming
Many farmers feel a blend of deep anxiety and bewilderment about the future. The reasons are varied and complex:
• Extreme weather, especially drought and excessive rainfall, resulting in very poor or no harvest, whilst carrying all the costs.
• Economic uncertainty as the emphasis moves towards paying farmers for providing environmental and climate-ready goods and services. The concept is good, and many are embracing regenerative farming systems, but the impact on farm economics, food production and food security is uncertain.
• The food supply chain and the balance of power as supermarket profits increase while farmers struggle.
We pray for comfort for farmers who have lost crops and livestock this year, that God will help them rebuild to a stronger place.

WEDNESDAY 30 September: JUSTICE AND RECONCILIATION
The Big Connection – Care for the broken and forgotten
We pray that the appeal will be an opportunity for people in our local communities to see the often unsung but essential everyday work of The Salvation Army – the toddlers’ groups, the after-school clubs, the employment, addiction and literacy support, and so much more. We pray that all those who need our support, the isolated and those who simply feel ground down by life, will be able to access our services. We pray too that others will feel inspired to support our work.

TUESDAY 29 September: SERVING AND CARING
Colonels Peter and Julie Forrest
Saturday’s Cadets Welcome Meeting at William Booth College was also an opportunity to recognise and give thanks for the years of faithful service which Chief Secretary Colonel Peter Forrest and Territorial Secretary for Leader Development Colonel Julie Forrest have given to God in The Salvation Army. They both leave their current appointments tomorrow, and as Colonel Peter steps into retirement and Colonel Julie takes up new responsibilities as Deputy Director for Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery, we pray for them both: for a smooth transition and a sense of joyful anticipation for all that God has for them in the future.
