On Saturday 17 October, Royal Greenwich Scouts are broadcasting from Severndroog Castle for JOTA-JOTI 2026, the weekend Scouts all over the world connect by radio and online.

The Scouts of the World Award is about picking an issue you care about, such as peace, the environment or development, and actually doing something about it.

If you’re not sure where to start, that’s what the Discovery weekend is for. You’ll find out how the award works, hear from people who’ve done SOWA projects, and leave with the start of a plan and a group of people working towards the same thing.

No experience needed.

This Saturday, 3rd Camberwell Scout Group are celebrating an incredible 50 years at their home on Bellenden Road! ⚜️
If you’ve been involved with 3rd Camberwell over the years — as a young person, volunteer, parent, supporter or friend of the Group — they’d love to welcome you back to catch up with old faces, meet the current Group and share some memories.

✨ 1st Wandsworth Scouts Take to the Skies! ✨
Thanks to Jack Petchey Adult Award Winner, Mel McDowall, the Scouts swapped solid ground for full‑on freefall fabulousness at iFLY at the O2.
Each young person had two goes in the wind tunnel — and let’s just say… it’s much harder than it looks. You start off being held in place like a human kite, and then the instructor slowly lets go so you can actually fly. Cue wobbly limbs, wild grins, and heroic attempts at staying aerodynamic.
Not a single Scout had ever done this before, but every single one of them gave it a go. They pushed themselves way outside their comfort zone, discovered muscles they didn’t know existed, and proved just how brave they really are.
An incredible experience, powered by the Mel’s Award Grant from Jack Petchey Foundation — and one the Scouts will be bragging about for years.

World Space Week starts tomorrow! 🔭

You don’t need a rocket to explore space. Some of the best stargazing in South London happens on a cold night, in a car park, with a flask of hot chocolate and a patrol who won’t stop asking ‘is that a planet?’

This week, try it with your section: find the Plough, spot the International Space Station passing over, or work towards your Astronomer Activity Badge.

🍂 Hello October! 🍂

October is here, autumn is well and truly underway, and there’s plenty to look forward to across South London Scouts this month! 🎃🔥🌙

The evenings are getting darker, the leaves are changing and there’s something pretty special about Scouting at this time of year. Whether you’re heading out on an autumn hike, gathering around a campfire or planning something indoors, there are loads of ways to make the most of the season.

🍁 Get outside and explore the changing autumn colours
🔥 Cook something over a fire – marshmallows strongly encouraged!
🎃 Give your meeting night an autumn or Halloween twist
🌌 Make the most of the darker evenings with some stargazing
🧭 Get stuck into badges, challenges and new skills
🥾 Wrap up warm and head out on an autumn adventure

And with half term, Halloween and plenty more happening before we know it, October is a great month to get outdoors, try something new and make some memories.

🏕️ What a weekend for Bexley Scouts!

Over the weekend, Scouts from across Bexley came together at Cudham Shaws for their District Camp — and it was certainly action-packed! ⚜️

From tomahawk throwing 🪓 and pizza making 🍕 to inflatables and even a trip to Christmas Tree Farm 🎄, there was plenty to get stuck into and lots of new memories made along the way.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make the weekend possible and gave our young people such a brilliant experience! 💚
