Animals used in laboratories are deliberately subjected to stressful, painful procedures, against their will and not for their own good. They are usually killed when they are no longer considered useful 💔

What makes this worse is that animal tests can give misleading results which don't assure safety. Testing on animals is not the only option. Non-animal approaches have the potential to be cheaper, quicker and more effective.

The UK Government promises to end several widely used animal tests within the next few years, while investing in modern, non‑animal methods to accelerate the transition away from animal testing.

But without sustained pressure, we risk progress happening too slowly, or not at all. We remain deeply concerned that if the pace of change is still painfully slow, animals could continue to suffer in laboratories for decades to come.
