In June 2026 we mark the 40th Anniversary of the Dentists' Health Support Trust. Founded by dentists for dentists who were struggling with alcohol misuse, over the past four decades we've expanded our service to cover substance abuse and mental health by providing professional one-to-one support to dentists across the UK via our helpline. The helpline is confidential, it's free, and most importantly we're independent, funded by donations.
On June 18th we brought together colleagues from across dentistry to discuss a topic that concerns us all - What is the mental state of dentistry in 2026? We also discussed how the industry can better support dentists to prevent them needing us, and services like ours. It's clear that we all want dentists to be well, but how do we get there?
We'll be sharing the outcomes of those conversations in the coming weeks, we're grateful to everyone who came along and freely shared their insights and ideas, which we're busy collating. For now, thank you to our Trustees, guest speaker Eddie Crouch, all who attended, and all who support our work.
At the conference we asked guests to make a pledge, and one we'd like to share is 'spread the word' - the DHST is here, please help us reach dentists who need our support. If you'd like to know how you can get involved, contact us via the email address on our website.
