We are pleased to share that Luuk van der Wielen, Editor in Chief of our newest journal SCI Sustainability, has been appointed as director of the new biotechnology initiative at DTU.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Biotechnology Research Institute for the Green Transition (BRIGHT) will contribute to the development of biologically based products and solutions that can make a real difference in the green transition.

Heading the initiative highlights Luuk van der Wielenโ€™s dedication to accelerating meaningful progress in tackling sustainability challenges, which he will continue to do as Editor in Chief of SCI Sustainability alongside his role at DTU as well as the Distinguished Professor for Biobased Economy Delft University of Technology.

A new report from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reveals that some bacteria have already become resistant to one of the newest antibiotics used by the .

Calling for a multi-stranded approach to tackling AMR Dr Colin Brown, UKHSA Deputy Director responsible for AMR said: โ€œWe arenโ€™t going to be able to tackle antibiotic resistance solely by finding new drugs. While we continue to support innovation in developing new treatments, resistance will emerge and so itโ€™s important that we all work together to keep antibiotics working"
