🌳 Introducing Wood for the Trees 🌳

Step into the forest and discover the journey of hardwood timber, from seed to finished product.

Created by AHEC, Mitre & Mondays and Benchmark, this immersive exhibition explores responsible forestry, carbon storage and the role material choices play in sustaining forests for generations to come.

As we approach the launch of Trees
at the heart of Material Matters, Finn from reflects on the thinking behind the exhibition.

The experience will lead visitors through the life of hardwood timber, from seed to finished product, inviting them to see the material as a living process rather than a static resource.

A Bench for East London

Designed by Andu Masebo for V&A East, three benches - one straight, two curved - bring together material and place through conversations with East London communities.

Made using underused No.1 Common red oak, the benches work with the grade’s natural characteristics to carry embedded symbols and stories gathered through walks, workshops, and shared moments across the neighbourhoods surrounding the museum.

Now installed in the entrance foyer at V&A East Museum.

From raw American cherry to finished sculptural form, here’s a closer look at the making process behind this year’s awards, hosted in collaboration with

Designed by and handcrafted in collaboration with , each piece celebrates the beauty of process, material exploration and skilled craftsmanship. Made using lower grade cherry, every object carries its own knots, grain and colour variations - no two are the same.
