Emmaus Greenwich supports up to 35 companions (formerly homeless people) and operates three social enterprises, in Plumstead, Lewisham and Poplar. Shop opening times:

A special visit to St James’s Palace yesterday! 👑💚

Our CEO Simon Frost and Community Leader Clare Waghorn were delighted to collect a generous donation of new clothing, linen and bedding from The Queen Mother's Clothing Guild for use within our Emmaus community.

Founded in 1882, the Queen Mother’s Clothing Guild is one of the UK’s oldest charities. For more than 140 years, it has supported people most in need, responding to requests from charities across the UK for clothing and bedding that can be difficult to source or fund.

And these donations are about so much more than practical essentials. 🛏️👕 New clothing and bedding provide warmth and comfort, helping to restore dignity and self-respect to people rebuilding their lives after homelessness.

As a regular supporter of Emmaus Greenwich, the Queen Mother’s Clothing Guild helps ensure that people joining our community have the everyday essentials they need as they take their next steps towards a more secure future.

It’s a wonderful example of what can happen when organisations come together to support people experiencing, or moving on from, homelessness.

💚 Could you spare a few hours to make a BIG difference?

We’re looking for volunteers to join our charity shop teams in Plumstead, Lewisham and Poplar! 🛍️

You could be:

✨ Welcoming and serving customers
🧹 Keeping the shop clean and tidy
📦 Sorting and organising donations
👗 Pricing, displaying and merchandising stock
🤝 Meeting new people and being part of a brilliant local team

You don’t need previous charity shop experience - just enthusiasm, a willingness to get stuck in and a few hours to spare!

Your time helps our shops raise vital funds to support Emmaus Greenwich and people rebuilding their lives after homelessness.💚

We were delighted to welcome a delegation from France’s National Advanced School for Social Security (EN3S), alongside representatives from the French Embassy, to learn more about our approach to supporting people who have experienced homelessness.

Guests heard from our team, toured the community and shop, and saw first-hand how the Emmaus model combines a home, meaningful work, companionship and tailored support to help people rebuild their lives.

The visit was a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen our Anglo-French connections and exchange ideas about tackling homelessness and social exclusion through dignity, solidarity and community.

A big thank you to EN3S and the French Embassy for visiting us – we look forward to continuing these important conversations across borders.

🐾 Meet Olive, a regular visitor to Emmaus Greenwich! 🐾

This black-and-white moggy lives nearby but has clearly decided that Emmaus Greenwich is one of her favourite places to visit. 🖤🤍

Olive loves nothing more than popping in to say hello, enjoying a stroke or two and, of course, tucking into a bite to eat from our kind companions. She’s become a much-loved feline friend and a regular source of smiles around the community.

As you can see, she’s feline fine after a little food and some quality time with our companions. 😻

We think Olive has definitely found her purr-fect place to hang out! 🐾💚

This (14th–20th September), we’re giving good quality pre-loved items the second chance they deserve. ♻️✨
