Meaningful work is still work. The third sector runs on the goodwill of its workers and too often that goodwill is taken for granted.

Our Third Sector Branch is where charity, community and advice workers organise to win better pay, safer conditions and real respect.

Time limits on emergency callouts. Our members say it’s a risk to patients and staff alike. We’re calling for proper engagement, not a stopwatch.

Same job. Same school. Worse pay.

That’s what academisation means for school support staff. Nobody voted for this.

We’re standing up for the workers who keep our schools running.

Academisation was sold as a way to free schools up. For support staff, it's done the opposite.

50:1

For every academy trust worker who says their workload has gone down, fifty say it's gone up.

If you're a TA, cleaner, caretaker, lunchtime supervisor or admin in an academy school, you don't have to carry this alone.

Join GMB. Stand with school support staff.

Support staff are the foundation of our schools and it’s time they were treated like it.

Fair pay, real terms and conditions, and recognition for the work they do. All this starts with being in the right union, one that can negotiate on behalf of support staff.

GMB has the experience, the numbers, and the seat the table to win for support staff. Not in a union? Join us today. https://www.gmb.org.uk/join-gmb

Two years ago, our members at Crane BS&U in Hitchin went on strike for fair pay. They won.

They’re back on the picket line, same employer, same fight.

Crane BS&U can end this with one phone call and a genuine offer. Until then, our members aren’t moving.
