The second cohort of the YPHA Management Development Programme has now begun, with 12 young horticulture professionals from across the industry coming together at Pershore College for the first of three residential training blocks.
We’re delighted that the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation is the headline sponsor of the 2026–27 programme, alongside support from The Garden Centre Association Trust, the BOAhomegrownplants and YPHA’s Launch Success Challenge.
The programme has been designed specifically for people who already have management responsibility within horticulture but may not previously have had access to formal management training.
And there was certainly no shortage of demand with 44 applications were received for just 11 available places with an additional place for a member of the YPHA Operations team.
Thanks to the support of the programme sponsors, each place has been subsidised by £1,000,, helping to make nine days of high-quality management training accessible to horticultural businesses of all sizes.
The first block focused on identity, teamwork, strategic planning and accountability, with communication, conflict management, coaching, staff development and managing change still to come.
It’s fantastic to see young professionals from right across horticulture learning together, sharing experiences and building a valuable peer network for the future.
