First Avenue Urban Wilderness Community Garden

First Avenue Urban Wilderness Community Garden Urban Wilderness is a council owned piece of land which has been loaned to the local residents for the next 10 years.

First Avenue Urban Wilderness is a small community group based in Newham, East London made up of local residents from Plaistow. Local residents from the Plaistow area managed to obtain a plot of previously unused land in June 2012 on a long term lease from the Local Authority. The land was overgrown and only used for anti-social behaviour, such as fly-tipping, drug use and dog-fighting. We have re

claimed the land and set up a safe, local garden for residents to use that contains allotment plots, wildlife pond, BBQ/Picnic Area, seating area, play area, peace garden and sensory and edible area. We are a constituted group that have a regular say on the shape and future of this green space and that of other local ventures. We are looking to facilitate workshops such as bike maintenance, soup kitchens and garden parties to enhance outdoor activities, community cohesion and people's general wellbeing.
