Diverse Voices

Diverse Voices We at Diverse Voices CIO are a performing arts in education charity. We use the arts and interactive Want to support the work we do?

We provide an extensive selection of workshops ranging from training in performing arts skills and techniques to tackling various relevant issues using drama. Another way we address these subjects is through our various Theatre-in-Education (TIE) Performances. Our TIE performances use comedy as a tool to engage the audience, while presenting serious issues through easily identifiable characters th

ey can relate to. We tailor make our performances to address specific requirements and subject matters and have had great success and positive feedback touring our productions. According to Ofsted, nearly 90% of girls and almost 50% of boys said that being sent explicit pictures or videos they didn't want to see happens a lot or sometimes, to them or their peers.

These statistics are a call to action. Young people need meaningful RSE education that addresses the reality of their lives online.
That's exactly what our learning portal and teachers resources are designed to do, giving primary and secondary school teachers lesson plans, discussion tools, and our unique hot-seating feature to bring these topics to life in the classroom.

Thousands of children are being contacted by strangers through social media and gaming platforms and many don’t realise how quickly an online conversation can become unsafe.

In our PSHE/RSE workshops, we cover the key topics required under the national curriculum, including online safety, grooming tactics, image sharing, consent and UK law.
Through film, drama and open discussion, we help young people recognise risk early, trust their instincts and stay safe online.

How confident are you in the UK laws around age of consent, po*******hy and illegal imagery? Most young people don’t know the UK laws around consent, po*******hy or illegal images and predators rely on that.

In our PSHE/RSE workshops we break down the law clearly and teach online safety, grooming, image sharing, consent and boundaries in a way young people actually understand and remember.

Misogyny isn’t just an online problem. It shows up in classrooms, corridors and friendships, shaping how young people think about respect, consent and relationships.
These stats make it clear how deeply online culture is influencing real-life behaviour.

In our PSHE/RSE workshops, we create space for young people to talk openly about misogyny, online safety and harmful norms. Through film, drama and discussion, we cover the key PSHE/RSE topics required under the UK curriculum in a way that actually engages students and helps build a safer, healthier culture in schools.

Online misogyny is shaping how young people think about respect, consent and relationships. The voices they hear online are spilling into schools, friendships and daily life.

Our PSHE/RSE programmes cover the UK curriculum around online safety, consent, UK laws on image sharing, VAWG, sexism and healthy relationships. Through film, drama and honest conversation, we make these subjects engaging and memorable, giving students the tools to recognise risk and challenge harmful behaviour.

Our DVSS original short film, Brother’s Keeper, is officially in the editing room and we’re so excited to share the finished piece soon.
This film is the result of months of hard work, dedication and creativity from our DVSS students, and we can’t wait for them to see it on the big screen.

DVSS (Diverse Voices of Stage & Screen) gives young people real experience in film, theatre and acting by working alongside industry professionals and creating original work together.

More updates coming soon!

A 2024/2025 report by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) shows that violence against women and girls (VAWG) accounts for almost 20 percent of all recorded crime in England and Wales, with recorded offences rising 37 percent between 2018 and 2023.

These figures make one thing clear: VAWG is a national epidemic.

At Diverse Voices, we tackle the roots of gender-based violence early by bringing creative, honest PSHE/RSE programmes into schools and opening conversations about respect, boundaries and safety.

We’re working to bring our PSHE/RSE programmes into schools across the UK, because keeping young people safe starts with giving them the tools to recognise risk and trust their instincts.

In this clip, a student talks about what she learned around online safety and how quickly someone can pretend to be someone else. She also shares why a Diverse Voices session feels different: games, ice-breakers, films and real conversations that actually land.

This scene from our original short film 'Beat It' looks at the culture of boys sharing sexual videos and bragging about sexual encounters.
These moments open up key conversations in our PSHE workshops about toxic masculinity, peer pressure, objectification and the attitudes that sit underneath violence against women and girls.
We also talk plainly about the law. If anyone in these videos is under 18, filming, possessing or sharing the footage counts as child sexual abuse material. Even showing it privately to friends is illegal.
Young people need to understand consent, respect and the legal consequences of sharing explicit content. Our work gives them the space and language to recognise harmful behaviour and make safer choices.
