The Clink Charity

The Clink Charity provides an opportunity for people in prison to gain new skills and qualifications in catering and horticulture.

The Clink Restaurant provides a real working environment for prisoners to learn and gain NVQ qualifications in food preparation and food service. Seasonal food is prepared and cooked in an open plan kitchen enabling diners the opportunity to watch food preparation. Offering a memorable dining experience, The Clink Restaurant also offers businesses and members of the public the chance to help The C

link Charity reduce reoffending rates by changing public perception and provide prisoners with true-to-life work experience of the hospitality industry.

30 prisoners work a 40 hour week either in the kitchen or restaurant before returning to their cells at the end of each working day. As part of the training programme graduates receive dedicated support from a Clink mentor to secure full-time employment upon their release to ease their reintegration back into society and help them to avoid reoffending. Each diner who visits The Clink Restaurant is helping to simulate a true-to-life working environment that is essential for the continued development of the prisoners in training. The restaurant seats up to 92 people, with an additional private area for up to 20 people upstairs, a perfect place for meetings, events & private dining.

Our huge gratitude and thanks go to City & Guilds Foundation for awarding £50,000 to The Clink Bakery inside HMP Brixton 🥖🍞🍰

We are beyond proud of our life-changing work in the bakery, where our dedicated chef trainers work hard to train our students in patisserie and confectionery skills. The £50,000 grant, awarded through the Supporting Rehabilitation fund, will enable our bakery to continue delivering accredited City & Guilds qualifications to up to 40 learners per year.

We are delighted to announce that we have been re-accredited as an official caterer for 2026 – 2029!

By continuing to work with the team for the next 3 years, our students will experience the opportunity to serve guests in an iconic venue, providing them with the chance to develop their skills, build their confidence and work together to deliver high-quality events.

Our team have worked since September 2023, and we are looking forward to continuing our partnership throughout the rest of this year and beyond.

We're delighted to be taking part in the fourth Justice for All series of events which will focus on Justice for Prison Leavers.

📆Monday 18th May, 5.30 - 8.30pm
📍 Central Criminal Court, The Old Bailey, London

The event will examine how prison leavers in England and Wales are supported as they transition back into society, with a focus on strengthening support systems, reducing reoffending and promoting long-term reintegration.

The keynote address will be delivered by Lord Timpson, Minister of State for Prisons, Probation and Reducing Reoffending. The event will also host a distinguished panel of experts, including individuals with lived experience of leaving prison. Come and find out more about our rehabilitation programmes.

Many Clink Charity supporters will know that, as well as hospitality training, we also run horticulture projects in two prisons - HMP Send and HMP Erlestoke.

These are therapeutic initiatives, designed to help students to start to rebuild themselves by first connecting with nature and the land around them.

As you can hear in the clip below, these are truly transformative projects that have a profound effect on our students.
