We accidentally built a place where people hire each other.

When we first opened Impact Brixton, we thought we’d be renting out desks. Instead, members started going into business together, freelancers started commissioning work from one another, and a bunch of people ended up landing full-time jobs at fast-growing companies.

One of our members recently told us that 75% of their business has come through Impact Brixton.

How wild is that?

Last year, our IB Create programme received 400 applications for 125 places.

Over the following months, founders took part in practical workshops, one-to-one mentoring and plenty of honest conversations about everything from AI to pricing to imposter syndrome.

By the end of the programme, eight new businesses had been launched and 13 jobs had been created or safeguarded.

Not bad for a room full of people with good ideas.

Last year, 345 people came to our free workshops.

Entrepreneurs came because they had a business idea but didn’t know where to start. Freelancers came to better understand how to make their finances work. Everyone came because they wanted to know what the heck is up with AI.

And mostly, folks just wanted to meet other people who “got it”.

By the end, 84% told us the workshops had made a positive difference to their business, and 76% left feeling more confident tackling the challenges ahead.

We’ll be real with you, running a coworking space in this economy can be tough times. But when you rock up to work and one of your members tells you this, it makes it all worth it.

Over 120 people from 25 different industries work in our space every day. And when they start commissioning work from each other, that’s when the real magic happens.
