Cheetah Conservation Fund - CCF UK

Cheetah Conservation Fund - CCF UK Based in the UK, we raise funds and awareness to support our colleagues in Somaliland & Namibia CCF is dedicated to saving the cheetah in the wild.

Founded in Namibia in 1990, Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is the global leader in research and conservation of cheetahs. The vast majority of wild cheetahs are outside protected areas, in areas populated by humans. Saving this magnificent animal from extinction requires innovative conservation methods that address the welfare of both cheetah and human populations over large landscapes. CCF has d

eveloped a set of integrated programs that work together to achieve this objective. CCF’s programs have effectively stabilized and even increased the wild cheetah population in Namibia.Cheetah Conservation Fund has the ability to save the cheetah from extinction, definitively. This goal is within our power to achieve. Will you help us? A country that formerly exterminated cheetahs, Namibia now proudly calls itself The Cheetah Capitol of the World and has become the leader in wildlife conservation among African nations. But to ensure long-term survival, CCF must parlay our success in Namibia into greater success by extending our reach into other cheetah range countries. We must exponentially increase our capacity to educate, train and intervene in all territories where cheetahs are found if there is any hope for a future for them. Time is not on our side. We need to scale up now. The Cheetah Conservation Fund UK is a UK registered charity (number 1079874). It holds events to raise awareness of the plight of the cheetah, and raises money which goes directly to support the work of CCF Headquarters in Namibia.

Is still a thing? 👀🐆

Last year, we had the pleasure of welcoming our amazing ambassadors, and Sam Bird to the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia.
Over three days, they got a behind-the-scenes look at our conservation work, meeting the teams that make it happen and learning firsthand about the challenges cheetahs face and the solutions we're working on every day.

Of course, it wasn't all work! They also had the opportunity to experience Namibia's incredible wildlife and create memories that will last a lifetime. 💛

The good news? You can experience it too. We welcome visitors throughout the year, giving them the chance to learn more about cheetah conservation and see our work up close.

We have wonderful news to share – Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) has been nominated for Best of Namibia !

CCF has advanced to the final round of voting – and been shortlisted in two different sub-categories in the charity field: animal welfare and environmental conservation. We are so grateful to have been nominated – and truly appreciate the support!

The final round of voting ends on June 19, and you can still cast a vote for CCF!

At CCF, we believe conservation starts with education. 🐆💛

That's why our team regularly visits schools to teach children about cheetahs, their incredible speed, the threats they face, and why protecting them matters.
This week, our educator Ignatius David spent time with students at several schools, sharing his passion for cheetah conservation and inspiring the next generation to care for wildlife.

Because today's students are tomorrow's conservationists.

There was a big surprise waiting for the ecology team during routine camera trap checks recently! The team spotted not one, not two, but SIX adolescent cheetahs at Tupuka’s playtree on Cheetah Conservation Fund’s (CCF) land in Namibia!

The footage is incredible - and one curious youngster decided to get a little TOO close to the camera for a sniff, giving us some beautifully blurry close-ups, leaving the rest of the group out of focus. We can’t even be mad about it!

Six youngsters traveling together could mean this is a dispersal group - young cheetahs who have left their mother and are now roaming together in search of a new area to call home. This is possibly a group of cubs spotted by our ecology team when checking camera trap footage a few months ago, while they were still with their mom.

This is exactly why wildlife monitoring matters. Consistent, on-the-ground monitoring allows us to track movements, understand habitat use, and gather data we need to protect these animals for generations to come. Every routine check is a piece of the puzzle.

It’s winter here in Namibia! ❄️🐆

As temperatures drop, we make sure our resident cheetahs have plenty of warm, comfortable places to rest at night.
That is especially important for our oldest residents, Peter and Tigerlily.

At nearly 16 years old, they appreciate a little extra comfort, so we’ve added additional insulation to their night house and made sure their hay beds are nice and cosy.

Judging by this video, they’re making the most of it, snuggled up together and staying warm through the chilly winter nights.

They grow up so fast! 🐆

Just yesterday they arrived at CCF Somaliland as tiny, curious cubs taking in their new surroundings. Today, they're big, strong boys ready to explore an even bigger world.

Watching them thrive never gets old. 🌿

Recently, Cam Whitnall and Tasha Ghouri stopped by our Centre in Namibia. We were so happy they took the time to visit and absolutely loved having the opportunity to show them around our Centre and discuss our frontline conservation efforts. We’re so grateful for their support for cheetah conservation!

Almo Nature has arrived in Namibia, at the Cheetah Conservation Fund - CCF UK centre, to support those who make coexistence between people, wildlife and livestock possible: guard dogs.

The impact of this initiative is clear from one simple detail, the joy of a dedicated project member holding the Almo Nature bag in her arms.

This support helps improve the welfare of the dogs and reduced conflicts between farmers and cheetahs..

It is a powerful example of the Reintegration Economy in action, Almo Nature kibble in service of biodiversity.

Earlier this year, Cheetah Conservation Fund’s (CCF) Centre in Namibia received an orphaned male cheetah cub, estimated to be approximately seven months old. The cub had survived for a little more than a week after losing his mother and siblings. He was severely dehydrated and malnourished when he was found and spent several days in intensive care with the veterinary team at CCF, and fortunately made a full recovery.

Just a few days after the orphaned male arrived, a female cheetah named Nicky and her cubs were transferred to CCF, after being trapped on a farm. Nicky’s cubs were both male and estimated to be approximately seven months old. With their arrival, the tam realized they had unique opportunity to introduce the orphaned male cheetah to Nicky, giving him a chance at a life in the wild.

Staff introduced the cheetahs gradually. First, the orphaned cub was placed in an enclosure near Nicky and her cubs. He began calling - and Nicky answered. Next, the three cubs were introduced. The final step was introducing the orphaned male to Nicky, and there were no issues. However, staff observed their behavior with camera traps for days, hoping to see Nicky grooming the orphaned cub. Sure enough, after a few days, staff finally saw Nicky grooming her adopted cub too, just like her own.

Stay tuned for an update on their return to the wild!
