TradeUp is a Social Enterprise based in South London. We have full funding for this venture and we are looking to start the first pilot scheme teaching basic decorating and DIY techniques in March. Working in small groups to foster a team ethic. We will use community centres in need of upgrading as the training base and we will renovate them in the process. The next phase will be to use these newl
y learnt skills to refresh and redecorate the participants own accommodation.Then those that are ready can work for the project renovating community spaces and the homes of people in need in the community. The aim is to form mentoring partnerships and assist the Young People in gaining new skills in order to provide structure, boost confidence and achieve paid employment and further training. I set up Trade Up having worked with looked after young people on and off for the last 13 years. Both in residential homes and as an educational advisor for Shaftesbury Young People. In between I trained as an actor and I complimented my career by renovating homes, yoga studios, restaurants, boats learning many skills of the Trade. During this time I saw the need for a project that could engage young people when they are leaving or have left the care home environment. After much deliberation TradeUp was born and now we are looking for people who have something to offer to come on board......
