📢 We’re absolutely delighted to announce that all four BCS AI Confidence modules are now live and available free to all UK schools and colleges.

In a survey of 9,200 teachers in England commissioned by The Royal Society*, only 14% reported that they were confident across all three dimensions of AI literacy. These are:

- Understanding how AI works
- Using AI safely and responsibly
- Critically engaging with AI’s ethical, societal, and civic implications

Sir Anthony Seldon also highlighted in a recent BBC interview*, that schools need greater support and teacher training to navigate the rapid adoption of AI. Equipping educators and students with the skills to use AI safely, responsibly and effectively is increasingly essential.

Sound familiar? Here’s how we can support you and your learners

AI Confidence is a series of free, CPD modules created by our experts at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in partnership with the Hg Foundation, Microsoft Elevate and Cognizant. Here you’ll find practical training to help educators understand AI, make informed decisions about its use and support students in an AI-enabled world.

🔹 Getting Started with AI in Education: understand the fundamentals and explore safe, practical ways to use AI.
🔹 Exploring AI in the World of Work: help students understand how AI is changing jobs, recruitment and the skills employers value.
🔹 AI for School Leaders: build the judgement needed to evaluate AI tools, manage risks and introduce AI responsibly across your organisation.
🔹 Supporting Inclusion with AI: explore how AI and assistive technologies can help remove barriers to learning and communication.

How confident would you feel talking to a student about careers in an AI-shaped world?

As AI changes the workplace, the conversations students have about their future are changing too.

AI in the World of Work is a free CPD module for educators, created by BCS in partnership with The Hg Foundation, Microsoft and Cognizant, to help you understand how AI is reshaping careers, recruitment and the skills people will need.

In under an hour, you’ll build the confidence to have more informed conversations with students about what comes next, including the opportunities they may not yet know exist.

What makes homework valuable when AI can do the work?

That’s the question we’ll be tackling tomorrow in our free webinar for teachers and tutors: Designing homework for the age of AI.

We’ll look at how to design homework that still develops genuine thinking, creativity and independent learning when tools like ChatGPT, Copilot and Gemini are readily available to students.

You’ll come away with practical approaches to:
↳ design tasks AI can’t simply complete for students
↳ encourage reflection, deeper thinking and application of knowledge
↳ use AI to support learning without replacing it
↳ recognise new safeguarding considerations as AI becomes part of everyday study
