After he died, they came back for him.

In September 2025, Randy, a 43-year-old farmer from rural Antler, North Dakota, died after a crash near Maxbass. He left behind his wife, Kharra, their two sons, and a harvest still waiting in the field.

According to reports citing KFYR, friends and neighbors quietly organized a volunteer harvest so the burden would not fall on Randy’s grieving family. Around 75 people came from nearby communities with combines, grain carts, and trucks.

They harvested soybeans, canola, and corn - including about 1,400 acres of corn - in just a few days, at no cost to the family.

Kharra later described the sight as “nothing short of breathtaking,” saying the day carried both joy and sorrow as the last of Randy’s work was brought in.

It is the kind of story that reminds people what community is supposed to mean: not just words, not just sympathy, but showing up with your hands, your time, your machines, and your heart.

A man was carrying his dog in his arms while a young child walked beside him. The image spread online, and strangers began criticizing him for not carrying the child instead.

But the explanation changed the whole story.

According to viral reports, the man said the pavement was hot, the child was wearing shoes, and the dog’s paws had no protection. In that moment, carrying the dog was not favoritism - it was prevention.

And the safety concern is real. AAHA warns that pavement can become much hotter than the air, and that hot asphalt can burn a dog’s paw pads quickly. Their simple test: place the back of your hand on the pavement for seven seconds. If you cannot keep it there, it is too hot for your pet.

So the photo became more than a parenting debate. It became a reminder that one image rarely tells the whole story.
