Talking therapies are key to better mental health. 🧡

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised more than £425,000 during our 36-hour crowdfunder campaign in February.

This support is helping us make Jami’s Talking Therapies service accessible to everyone who needs it, providing a safe, non-judgemental space where young people and adults can speak openly, feel heard and receive specialist support.

Together, we’re helping more people access the support they need, when they need it.

The Government's announcement to expand community mental health support on high streets reflects what we've seen first-hand for years: support works best when it's local, welcoming and easy to access.

At Head Room, Jami's mental health hub, people can find connection, support and practical help without the barriers of formal referrals. We're proud to see this approach recognised nationally and remain committed to ensuring mental health support is accessible when and where people need it most.

Shared Traumatic Reality: Implications of Trauma on People, Families and Communities
📅 6 September

Since 7 October, mental health professionals have found themselves in an unprecedented position – supporting individuals, families and communities while navigating the same collective trauma themselves. Alongside rising antisemitism, an ongoing crisis in Israel, and a climate of fear, practitioners have been working within a shared reality that challenges traditional approaches to trauma care.
This conference explores the concept of shared traumatic reality – what happens when clinician and client are living through the same crisis. Leading experts will examine:
• Collective and intergenerational trauma
• How ongoing, "rolling" trauma differs from conventional PTSD frameworks
• The limitations of traditional trauma models during prolonged threat
• Practical strategies for sustaining effective practice while maintaining personal resilience

This is an important opportunity for mental health professionals and anyone working with trauma to deepen their understanding of one of the defining clinical challenges of our time.

Recently, colleagues from Jewish Care and Jami came together for a two-day MHFA England Mental Health First Aid course, facilitated by Jami's education team. The training equips people with the skills and confidence to recognise when someone may be experiencing poor mental health, start supportive conversations and signpost them to the right help.

The benefits of becoming an MHFAider extend far beyond the workplace – helping us better support colleagues, the people we care for, and our family and friends.

A huge thank you to Philippa Carr, Senior Mental Health Education and Su***de Prevention Manager at Jami, for delivering and coordinating this valuable training. Together, we're building a more compassionate and mentally healthy community.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised more than £425,000 through our 36-hour crowdfunder in February, helping make Jami's Talking Therapies service accessible to everyone who needs it. 🧡

Talking Therapies provides a safe, non-judgemental space where young people and adults in the Jewish community can speak openly, feel heard, and receive specialist support. Sometimes, even with supportive friends and family, it's hard to share our deepest thoughts and feelings. Having someone who listens without judgement can make all the difference.
