📍 Strengthening faith-based responses to substance use prevention and youth protection in Peru.

From 21-24 September 2026, CICAD/OAS and ISSUP Peru delivered the training “A Faith-Based Response to Drugs and Youth Criminal Recruitment” in Lima, bringing together faith leaders, pastoral agents, and civil society representatives from across the country.

Participants explored practical, community-centred strategies to prevent substance use, strengthen protective factors, support vulnerable populations, and help safeguard young people from criminal recruitment.

🌍 Global progress, stronger connections, and exciting new opportunities ahead for ISSUP National Chapters.

Representatives from ISSUP National Chapters around the world came together for the 2026 Annual General Meeting to reflect on achievements, share insights, and discuss priorities for the future. With 46 established Chapters and a growing international network, the meeting highlighted major developments including the upcoming launch of the ISSUP Academy, expanding youth networks, new professional development opportunities, and greater engagement with supply reduction and crime prevention professionals.

The meeting also showcased innovative initiatives such as the Drug Data Hub, the Resource Persons Directory, and growing faith-based and youth-led activities that are helping strengthen the global workforce and foster collaboration across regions.

🏃‍♀️🧠 How can sport contribute to better mental health and substance use prevention?

ISSUP Kenya 🇰🇪 recently hosted a Pre-Summit Breakfast in Nairobi, bringing together stakeholders from mental health, sport, education, healthcare, prevention, treatment, and recovery sectors to explore the theme: “Play Strong, Live Long: Tackling Alcohol Use, Substance Use and Mental Health in the Sports Community.”

The event highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in promoting wellbeing and building healthier, more resilient sporting communities.
