🎯 NATIONAL CADET WEEK – SKILLS FOR LIFE 🎯

Today, as part of National Cadet Week, we’re celebrating the Skills for Life that the Army Cadets experience provides.
One of the fantastic opportunities available to our cadets and CFAVs is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). 🏕️🥾
Through DofE, participants develop valuable skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, communication, problem-solving and independence skills that can make a real difference both within the cadet experience and in the future.

From taking on challenges to stepping outside their comfort zone, the skills and experiences gained through DofE help prepare our cadets and CFAVs for whatever lies ahead. 🌟

Skills for life. Experiences for the future. Memories that last a lifetime.

We are super-excited to be launching this year's DofE Support Grant for CCFs! We'd love every cadet to have the opportunity to do their The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the Army Cadets, and hope that this will go some way to supporting our CCF units that are either delivering DofE already, or would like to.

The CCFA Duke of Edinburgh's Award Support Grant applications are officially open!

By bidding for a one-off CCFA DofE support grant, contingents can provide cadets from all backgrounds with access to opportunities they may not have had previously.

We're inviting all CCF contingents to bid for one of the following DofE Support Grants:
- Expedition equipment grant - up to £1,000 for equipment. Applications close 30 November 2026.
- Licence fee support grant - up to £500 towards a one-year DofE licence. Submit an expression of interest (EOI) by 16 November 2026.

Introducing the newest ACCT UK Excellence Award, the Unsung Hero Award!

We've expanded the ACCT UK Excellence Award categories to introduce the 'Unsung Hero' award. This honour will recognise the cadets and adult volunteers who consistently encourage and support their peers, and regularly go the extra mile, but don't meet the criteria for our other Excellence Award categories.

Unsung Hero Excellence Award nominees will be judged on their long-term commitment to the ACF community, and the impact they have had within their detachments, companies, or counties.

Applications for the 2026 ACCT UK Excellence Awards are officially open and will close on Thursday 31 December 2026. Excellence Award winners will be honoured at a prestigious event in London in 2027.

Brilliant news!!

Thank you for your service to The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the Army Cadets UK, WO2 Taggart!

ACCT UK

Congratulations to WO2 Taggart was presented with the DofE 70th Anniversary Recognition Certificate during final parade by our Commandant for his support to delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the Battalion during 2026.

At the same time, Col Martin also presented him with the ACF DofE Coin for Excellence. This was awarded on behalf of Lt Col Peterson, National DofE and Expeditions Advisor, and recognises the outstanding contribution WO2 Taggart has made to the cadets of the Caithness area in recent years.
From encouraging enrolments and activity at detachment level to coordinating complex travel plans that ensured cadets from some of our most remote areas have been able to benefit from opportunities at Brigade and National level and achieve the highest levels of the Award - something that for many would have been impossible without his input.

Fantastic to see cadets progressing through the DofE Young Leader programme and being ready to support their fellow cadets!

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Army Cadets UK

Congratulations to our new DofE Young Leader! 🏕🥾⛰️

A huge congratulations to Sergeant Major Gough, Cdt CSM of Amiens Company, who has successfully completed the Duke of Edinburgh Young Leader course work, making her a qualified DofE Young Leader!

This means she is now able to support the cadets in her detachment working on their DofE by providing guidance on the sections of their DofE Award. She has also assisted the Battalion with DofE by attending Btn DofE training weekends where she has supported cadets through Navigation and Expedition training.

🏕️ Gold DofE Expedition Halton - The Staff! 🏕️

Our Gold DofE Expedition at Halton is over so it’s a good time to say a huge thank you to this incredible group of staff who delivered the activity!

From supervising and assessing the teams, to driving, looking after equipment, and dealing with medical and welfare issues, they worked tirelessly for 7 days to ensure a safe and enjoyable venture for all our participants.

A huge thanks to Maj Chris Dine, Expedition Lead, and his capable and enthusiastic team of volunteers. Without the dedication of CFAVs, events like this simply could not happen.
