Tomorrow marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week 🌟

Baby Loss Awareness Week exists to raise awareness of the scale and impact of pregnancy and baby loss, and to show support for families who have experienced the loss of a baby.

Half of adults in the UK have experienced baby loss themselves or know someone who has. Yet it can still feel like something we don’t talk about enough, leaving many parents and families feeling isolated in their grief.

Throughout Baby Loss Awareness Week, our friends at Tommy’s will be sharing stories from families, information about baby loss, and support for anyone who has been affected.

If you need support, please reach out to the Tommy’s midwives at [email protected], join one of their private Facebook groups, or visit tommys.org.

And on 15 October, we’ll join families around the world for the Wave of Light, lighting a candle at 7pm in remembrance of babies who are loved and missed. 🕯️

We’re thinking of all the families in our Baby Sensory® and Toddler Sense® communities for whom this week may feel particularly close to home.

Expect magical activities, enchanting music & movement, and plenty of moments for your little one to explore, discover, and enjoy.

Why do we include signing in our Baby Sensory® classes? 👋

Babies communicate long before they can speak — through sounds, expressions, body movements and gestures such as waving, pointing and reaching up for a cuddle.

Signing can:

✨ Give your baby another way to express their needs
✨ Support two-way communication and early understanding
✨ Reduce frustration for babies and parents
✨ Encourage eye contact, interaction and connection
✨ Strengthen the bond between you and your baby

We always use signs alongside spoken words — never instead of them — and there’s no pressure for your baby to sign by a particular age. It’s about communication, connection and enjoyment, not performing on demand. 💚

Our sign book, The ABC of Baby Signing, is based on more than 35 years of research and observation into how babies learn to sign.

It’s another example of how every part of Baby Sensory has been carefully designed with your baby’s learning and development in mind.
