As Better Transport Week is marked across the UK, it is an opportunity to reflect on the vital contribution transport makes to society, the economy and our communities.

From buses, coaches, trams and rail services to the wider networks that connect people and places, transport underpins daily life and enables opportunity.

As a Company with longstanding links to transport and logistics, the Worshipful Company of Carmen recognises the importance of a connected and accessible transport system in supporting communities and future prosperity.

We are pleased to join others in celebrating the people and organisations whose work helps keep communities connected and brings people together.

Tickets are now on sale for Cart Marking 2026, one of the City of London’s most unique and historic events.

Taking place at Guildhall on Saturday 18 July, Cart Marking brings together an extraordinary collection of vehicles spanning the history of transport, from horse-drawn carts and steam vehicles to the latest electric and sustainable technologies. The ceremony, which dates back more than 500 years, is the origin of vehicle licensing and remains a spectacular celebration of transport through the ages.

Following the ceremony, Carmen and their guests will enjoy a champagne reception and lunch in the magnificent surroundings of Guildhall.

Places are limited and early booking is recommended.

Some of the Carmen involved with Vehicles 4 Ukraine were delighted to spend the day with the JP Racing truck racing team at Thruxton recently.

We joked that we’d finally found a truck Vehicles 4 Ukraine hadn’t sent to Ukraine!

It was a brilliant insight into the world of truck racing — from the highs and lows of race day to getting hands-on helping the team work on the truck between races.

Great to also meet Sheldon Nicolls from Dream Car Fixers and Merrie Newham from Trucking Hell. A special moment saw the Ukraine flag ride in the passenger seat for the final race of the day as a symbol of support and solidarity.

Huge thanks to Nick, John and the whole JP Racing team for such a warm welcome and a fantastic day. Looking forward to seeing everyone again at Cart Marking.
