It's Refugee Week, and we’re shining a light on the resilience and creativity of refugees everywhere.
Music therapy can play a powerful role in helping refugees cope with stress and trauma, while supporting them as they build new lives in unfamiliar places.
Salah experienced this first-hand through sessions with Anna at the International Care Network in Bournemouth. At the beginning, he felt unsure and lacked confidence, but over time, something changed. Through music, Salah found his voice. 🎶
He began to take part more, playing piano alongside Anna and even improvising on the guitar. Along the way, he picked up new English words and grew in confidence, letting his personality shine.
“I like Anna and I like coming to music to play guitar and piano,” Salah shared.
His story is a reminder of how creativity and connection can open doors, build confidence, and create a sense of belonging.
