On Tuesday 14th October 2025 the Master and Mistress accompanied by a party of Loriners had the undoubted privilege of a private visit Treloar's School and College, Alton, Hampshire.

Treloar's which first opened its doors in 1908, was founded by Sir William Purdie Treloar - Lord Mayor of London (1906/1907) and Past Master of The Worshipful Company Of Loriners - a fact of which our Company can be extremely proud.

Our group was welcomed by CEO Martin Ingram who provided an invaluable
insight into the incredible ground breaking work undertaken by Treloars for its 180 students by its 800+ staff.

Following an interesting briefing on Treloars’ current business incentive - “Business without Barriers” there was a tour of a small part the impressive and expansive site and facilities including a visit to a remarkable “sensory” room.

Our very capable and enthusiastic tour guides were intern students who clearly
enjoyed being at Treloars and who both made us feel most welcome.

The Master gave thanks to Nicola Doran - Livery Relationship Manager who is
pictured with the Loriners party and had co ordinated, what was a most memorable visit.

To sum up the work of Treloars - “Awe Inspiring”

DID YOU KNOW? The Inter-Service Team Competition is decided at the UKAF Equestrian Championships.

The Royal Navy, Army and RAF compete against each other in 4 team events during the summer season for the much coveted Loriners Trophy. The full competition is generously sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Loriners and their Master, George Anderson will present the prizes to the winning Service Team.

The Loriners' Company was established in 1261 and it strives to support the welfare of the horse through the education of the rider. The Company supports the City of London, the trade of lorinery and charitable activities as well as the events held both in London and across the country. The UK Armed Forces Equestrian Association is proud of the enduring support the Loriners have historically given military equestrians.

For those of you not aware of the Competition - a league table is run and each team earn points based upon where their team places in each of the 4 legs: Dressage, SJ, Eventing and the last one, at UKAFEC, Combined Training. The RAF are currently leading the league with Army second and Royal Navy third…the points are close so it is all to play for in this final leg.

Celebrating St. George’s Day – Loriners Gather for Informal Fellowship

On 23rd April, members of the Worshipful Company of Loriners and their guests came together to mark St. George’s Day with an informal lunch at Le Café du Marché in Farringdon.

A group of 22 Loriners and guests, enjoyed a convivial afternoon of fine food, warm conversation, and shared tradition. With attendees travelling from far and wide, the event was a true celebration of fellowship and connection across the Company.

Immediate Past Master Colin Gurley expressed heartfelt thanks to Liveryman Gill Sainsbury for organising such a memorable occasion.

We are delighted to share that another informal lunch is being planned for later in the year—an opportunity we look forward to with great anticipation.

RAF Clinch the First Round of the UKAFEA Loriners’ Cup

Tuesday 15th April saw the opening competition of this year’s UKAFEA Loriners’ Cup, with the RAF holding the dressage round at Sparsholt Equestrian Centre near Wi******er. The Master and Mistress were accompanied by the Upper and Under Wardens, the Loriners’ UKAFEA Steward PM Chris Walton and their consorts.
The Loriners’ party arrived at the centre at 10.00am and were given a very welcome coffee before moving down to the magnificent indoor arena to watch the dressage. The RAF, Army and RN entered four riders each in what was an extremely high standard of riding and horsemanship.

The scoring was very close, with the RAF coming 1st. The Army and RN came a very credible 2nd and 3rd respectively. This was a very good start for the riders representing the RAF, who won the Loriners’ Cup at the end of the tournament in October last year. The Master was invited to present prizes to all the riders, accompanied by Brigadier Stuart Nasse OBE, Chair of the UKAFEA.

After watching a victory gallop around the external arena, the Loriners were treated to a splendid lunch and were joined by riders and support teams from all three services. The Master and Brig. Nasse also signed this year’s formal agreement between the Loriners and the UKAFEA (below). The Loriners departed mid-afternoon, with everyone very much looking forward to the next leg at Melton Mowbray in June.

UKAFEA Steward and Past Master, Chris Walton
