Christmas may still feel a little way off, but we're already looking ahead to the festive season and would love your help! 🎄
As we start planning our festive content, we're looking for stories from families who have stayed in a Ronald McDonald House over the last few years. These stories help us show the real impact of keeping families close during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
We're particularly keen to hear from:

- Families who stayed in a House over the Christmas period
- Families whose siblings were able to stay together
- Families who can share how the House helped remove a practical worry during a difficult time
- Families from all regions and backgrounds

The stories shared may be featured across our website and social media channels, helping us highlight the importance of our Houses and the families we support.
If you have a story to share, or know a family who might be interested, please get in touch or email [email protected]
Thank you for helping us keep families at the heart of everything we do. ❤️

Last year, the Pursey family stayed with us for two weeks after their son, Benji, went into full respiratory failure just weeks after his second birthday and was rushed to St George’s Hospital.

The family said "It was one of the most frightening experiences our family has ever faced... For a time, we genuinely thought we might lose him."

During an incredibly frightening and uncertain time, our Tooting House provided the family with a place to stay close to Benji while he received the care he needed, making such a difference to his family including his 3 year old sister, Sienna, who is autistic and found the disruption to her routine particularly challenging. Staying at the House gave her a sense of stability and helped maintain a more normal routine during an otherwise difficult time. ❤️

After experiencing some cramping a few days after her 24-week scan, Mason’s mum could never have imagined he would arrive so early.

Born at just 26 weeks and weighing only 935 grams, Mason spent the next three and a half months in hospital, nearly 50 miles from home. During that time, his family stayed at Tooting House for 81 nights, giving them precious time together and saving a four-hour round trip every day. 💙

Mason’s mum said:

"Mason slowly and steadily grew stronger, and I was so grateful to have a room so close to him. I finally had a routine, and the days felt more manageable compared to when I was staying on the unit."

Stories like Mason’s are why McHappy Day matters. 🏡

On 26 September, £1 from selected main meals purchased at McDonald's will be donated to Ronald McDonald House UK, helping more families stay close to their child during hospital treatment.

Every meal can make a difference.

As we recognize this September, we're thinking of the NICU families supported by Ronald McDonald House programs around the world ❤️

Families like baby Grayson's.

Grayson was born early at 33 weeks and needed immediate surgery and specialized care. For nearly a month while Grayson was in the NICU, his parents, Paige and Jordan, stayed just steps away at Ronald McDonald House Louisville

"Being at Ronald McDonald House allowed us to be with Grayson in the NICU as much as possible," Paige says. "It was the biggest blessing to us on our journey."

We recently had the pleasure of celebrating Luz's birthday with a magical party surrounded by friends and family. 🎉

Luz's family have been staying at our Tooting House since October, and she regularly visits on a Medical Pass. With a love for colouring, gardening and stickers, it was wonderful to help create a birthday filled with the things she enjoys most and make her special day one to remember. 💜

Seeing families come together to celebrate special moments like these is always a joy, and we were so pleased to be part of it. ✨

“The facility allowed us to stay focused on our son’s needs while still giving him the chance to enjoy being a child.” - The McHugh Vasquez Family

Jeremy, Jessica, and their three children stayed at Ronald McDonald House Atlanta for over 60 nights while their son participated in a feeding therapy program nearby.

When families can stay close, they can focus on what matters most: caring for and supporting one another throughout their child’s medical journey.

Last week, we were incredibly grateful to welcome two groups of volunteers from the Royal Bank of Canada, who generously gave their time to support our House.

From tidying the garden and mopping throughout the House to defrosting our freezer and helping prepare Special Sunday packs, their hard work and enthusiasm made a real difference to the families we support.

A huge 'thank you' to everyone who volunteered. Your support helps us create a welcoming, comfortable place for families with children in hospital. 🌟

When you're navigating your child's medical journey, everyday activities like getting a haircut can fall to the bottom of the priority list.

At Ronald McDonald House Tampa Bay, Inc., Olivia and her team helped families get back-to-school ready with fresh haircuts. We're grateful to community members like Olivia who give back in meaningful ways, helping families feel supported and experience moments of normalcy during challenging times.

Today, we're celebrating a very special milestone as Mo marks 10 years at Ronald McDonald House Tooting as our Family Services Assistant! 🎉💙

Once a Ronald McDonald House Family, always a Ronald McDonald House Family. ❤️

While Harlow and Hadley were in the NICU, the Rardon family found comfort and support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri. Now, the twins have made it a tradition to give back by volunteering at the House each year, even spending part of their birthday this year packing lunches and preparing a meal for families staying at the House.

Thank you, Harlow and Hadley!

We were delighted to recently welcome back Will and Gemma, who stayed with us almost 13 years ago when their twin daughters, Liberty and Anabella, were born in November 2013. 💙

It was so special to see them again and hear how their family is doing all these years later. Stories like theirs are a wonderful reminder of the lasting connections formed at our House and the impact of keeping families close during difficult times.

As a thoughtful gesture, Will and Gemma brought chocolates and biscuits for our team as a token of their appreciation for the support they received during their stay. 🍫🍪

Thank you for taking the time to visit us. It was a pleasure to welcome you back, and we're so happy to see your family doing so well.

Our Zen Garden has had a lovely refresh! 🌿

Mo, our Family Services Assistant, joined forces with our Housekeeper Mihaela and her husband to transform this much-loved space. From building a new shelter to adding decorative touches and laying fresh bark throughout the garden, their hard work has given the area a wonderful new look. The Zen Garden continues to offer families a peaceful place to relax, unwind and take a moment for themselves.

A huge thank you to Mo, Mihaela and her husband for all their time and effort in helping to create such a welcoming space for our families to enjoy. ✨

Summer days call for a sweet treat! 🍦

When a child is receiving medical care, moments like sharing an ice cream, enjoying a summer activity, or simply spending time together can mean so much.

At Ronald McDonald House, families can hold onto these moments, all while staying close to the care their child needs.

“It is not just the House that provided us with a sense of home – it was the people,” says Shawna.

When the Roy family’s daughter, Carly, was in the NICU, her family stayed at Ronald McDonald House South Central Ontario, surrounded by a community of support while their daughter was receiving medical treatment.

For families like the Roys, Ronald McDonald House becomes more than a place to stay. It's a place of comfort and connection and a reminder that they’re not alone.
