Welcare is a family support charity working with families and children up to the age of 13 in South London and East Surrey. The focus of our work is to provide practical and emotional support and advice, individual one-to-one work and group work programmes. We work alongside parents and carers helping them use their strengths and skills to nurture secure and confident children.

Gabriella and her daughter, Claire, had experienced years of domestic abuse before leaving an unsafe relationship. Even after the separation, ongoing coercive control and breaches of court orders meant they had to move home for their safety.

With Welcare’s support through the Domestic Abuse Recovery Toolkit, both Gabriella and Claire were able to better understand the impact of their experiences, build confidence and resilience, and strengthen their relationship. Claire became happier and more confident, while Gabriella regained self-belief, improved her wellbeing, and began looking forward to a brighter future for them both.

Welcare are looking for a friendly Volunteer Group Assistant to support our Playwork-led groups, supporting families with young children in Redhill.

You’ll help set up engaging play sessions, join in activities like arts, singing and games, and create a warm, welcoming space for parents and children to connect. It’s a great way to build skills, meet new people and make a real difference in your community. 🧸🎨

👨‍👧 Caring Dads™ Programme – Now Taking Referrals

Welcare is delivering a 17-week Caring Dads™ group programme designed to strengthen the relationship between fathers and their children.

📅 Start Date: Tuesday 22nd September 2026
🕕 Time: 6–8pm
📍 Location: Welcare House, 24 Warwick Road, Redhill, RH1 1BU

💷 Cost: £1,600 per participant (includes final report)
✅ 5 FREE places available for fathers living in the Reigate & Banstead area
💬 We may also be able to offer reduced fees for those experiencing financial difficulties.

This evidence-based programme supports fathers to make positive changes and improve outcomes for their children.

🌳 Families came together at Welcare's annual Summer Picnics in Memorial Park for two afternoons filled with laughter, activities and community spirit.
