๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ผ SAPPHIRE MALAWI | COMMUNITY CLIMATE ACTION ๐ŸŒฑ

Today, our Sapphire Malawi Team delivered a practical Briquettes Production Workshop in Mchenga Village, Balaka District, empowering local people with skills to protect the environment and create greener livelihoods.

Our community has progressed from making briquettes by hand to using a simple machine. Our next goal is to secure electric or fuel-powered machinery to increase production, train more people and create sustainable income opportunities.

Briquettes offer an alternative to traditional charcoal, helping to reduce deforestation, protect trees and strengthen community resilience. ๐ŸŒณ

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ The SJW Podcast | Episode 25: From Surviving to Serving โ€“ A Conversation with Sandeep Saib

Some conversations stay with you long after the recording ends. This is one of them.

In Episode 25 of The SJW Podcast, I had the privilege of speaking with Sandeep Saib โ€“ a passionate mental health advocate, public speaker and Expert by Experience whose work is driven by lived and living experience.

Between 2012 and 2016, Sandeep faced Anorexia Nervosa, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and survived a su***de attempt. Rather than allowing these experiences to define her, she transformed them into a mission to educate, empower and advocate for others while championing equality, diversity and inclusion across the mental health sector.

Today, Sandeep volunteers with organisations including Mind, Rethink Mental Illness, the National Su***de Prevention Alliance (NSPA), James' Place and Samaritans, while also serving as a Mental Health & Wellbeing Network Committee Member and Workplace Wellbeing Ambassador, helping to create environments where mental health conversations are encouraged, supported and normalised.

In this powerful episode, we explore:
๐Ÿ’™ Recovery and resilience
๐Ÿ’™ Men's mental health
๐Ÿ’™ Eating disorders and body image
๐Ÿ’™ Living with OCD and BDD
๐Ÿ’™ Su***de prevention and hope
๐Ÿ’™ Finding purpose through adversity
๐Ÿ’™ Why asking for help is a sign of strengthโ€”not weakness

Sandeep's honesty, courage and compassion make this an unforgettable conversation. Her story is a reminder that healing is possible, recovery is real, and even our darkest experiences can become a source of hope for others.

โš ๏ธ Viewer discretion is advised, as this episode includes discussions around mental illness, su***de and recovery.

If this conversation resonates with you, please like, comment and share. Together, we can continue breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and remind others that they are never alone.

๐ŸŒธ Empowering Women, Strengthening Communities ๐ŸŒธ

Sapphire Malawi International was honoured to attend the Independent Womenโ€™s Group Grocery Sharing Ceremony held on 27th June 2026 at Balaka Stadium, Balaka District.

The event celebrated the success of 350 women who completed a six-month share contribution cycle, with each member receiving assorted grocery items worth approximately MK1,200,000. This remarkable initiative reflects the power of collective savings, womenโ€™s solidarity, and community-led economic empowerment.

We were delighted to join the celebration following an invitation from Marth Kaumphawi, Chairperson of the Independent Womenโ€™s Group in Balaka and a proud Sapphire Malawi Ambassador, whose leadership continues to inspire womenโ€™s empowerment in the community.

Sapphire Malawi International commends the Independent Womenโ€™s Group for this outstanding achievement and looks forward to strengthening collaboration in entrepreneurship, skills development, and womenโ€™s economic empowerment in Balaka and beyond.
