Thanks once more to the fantastic for, again, raising funds for our crew

We popped by to our fave coffee stop in Putney underneath the rowing clubs to pick up the generous collection and to enjoy a swift cuppa!

We cannot operate our life saving work without donations, so thanks once more to Donna’s Place Putney for helping us stay afloat!

With temperatures soaring and many families enjoying the weather this half term, please remember one thing if you’re heading for water:

How to Float To Live??

If you get into trouble in the water:
• Tilt your head back with your ears submerged
• Relax and try to breathe normally
• Move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat (It’s OK if your legs sink, we all float differently)
• Once your breathing is under control, call for help
or swim to safety

Cold water shock can happen even on the warmest days. Knowing how to float could save your life

Enjoy the warm weather safely!

Canalway Cavalcade Paddington!

A fantastic community event we were thrilled to be asked to attend with our fundraising. And water safety team

Crew member Paul attended with his wonderful dog, Bear on behalf of our crew

“Bear and I were proud to represent the RNLI at the 2026 Canalway Cavalcade to promote water safety awareness. Together, we’re encouraging everyone to respect the water, wear lifejackets where appropriate, and look out for one another along the waterways. Bear loves the canals, but even confident swimmers can get into trouble, so knowing the risks can save lives. It was a fantastic boating community event where we taught people how to use a throw bag and talked to children about safety around inland waterways. We also conducted several free lifejacket safety checks with a number of failed assessments. It’s vital to regularly have your lifejackets checked to make sure it works when needed!”

More casualty care training! This time, afloat!

We drill every possible scenario so we are ready when needed to call upon lifesaving skills

Our crews have to be ready for anything. Even the unlikely scenario that a fellow crew mate injures themselves on the lifeboat. In this scenario, crews practise that very thing, and drill their medical expertise

As part of our casualty care training, our crew are tested in all types of scenarios to best prepare them for operations on the river

Here two crew members are delivering critical medical training completely blindfolded. This is designed to help them concentrate on the basics, precision treatment and develop good communication skills, essential when working in these conditions
