Training Evening!

As well as constant training when on shift, we have the occasional evening when we all get together, set one another tasks, and discover ways of bettering our skill sets. The harder we train, the easier rescues become!

It’s also a nice way to get to know people we might not always be on shift with, and informally create bonds which make the team a much stronger unit 💪🏼

Please extend our gratitude to crew members Mike, Steve and Jenny!

Each over the last few months has been involved in serious operations on the Thames in which the lives of several people were saved

They were presented by Commander James Anthony and Station Manager Andy Mayo with these certificates as a thanks, and a physical reminder of how their hard work, bravery and dedication meant people were able to go home to their families

We are very proud of them!

Last week, a few of our fantastic crew attended a charity golf day event at Burhill Pro Am Golf course for BBM, a merchant services company

They delivered a talk during a dinner / auction at the event, talking about our role on the River Thames and the RNLI in general

We are thrilled to say we raised a good deal of money to keep our boats running, our crews in appropriate gear, and our station lights on!

With the greatest of thanks to all at BB Merchant Services! 🙌🏼

The new station is speeding toward completion, and we couldn’t be more excited!

As one of the busiest Lifeboat stations in the country, these are the facilities we’ve needed for the last 20 years or so, and finally the end is in sight!

As a non-government funded charity Search & Rescue organisation, we rely on the generosity of donors to save lives here on the Thames and around the coast of the UK and Ireland

We are still raising funds for the finishing touches, so if you’re in a position to be able to donate, the link to do so is in our bio!

The medical kit we carry on the E Class lifeboats we run comprises of three different sets. It’s important that as well as knowing where everything is (and of course, how to use it) that it’s checked laboriously, so we know everything is in the right place, in date, and in working order

Just one of the many, many checks each day and week that help us stay on top of our game 🙌🏼

As we prepare to move to our new lifeboat station at Wandsworth Riverside, we’re looking ahead to an exciting new chapter for the RNLI in London!

Our new station will help us reach more emergencies, more quickly, while creating a welcoming space where we can inspire communities, share vital water safety advice and connect more people with the RNLI’s lifesaving mission

We’re welcoming volunteers to join our Wandsworth Riverside team across a range of roles, including fundraising, retail, events and visitor engagement. Whether you’re new to the RNLI, or already volunteer with us, we’d love to hear from you!

Roles we are looking to fill include Lifeboat Visits Officer & Team Members, Events Organiser, Branch Secretary, Branch Chairperson, Fundraising Coordinators, Retail Coordinators, and fundraisers of every description!

Alongside the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) our flag was lowered to half mast this morning, to honour the memory of Bill Ewen and Frank Petsch of Marine Rescue New South Wales in Australia, who tragically lost their lives in Ballina last month

Their ultimate sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication and sacrifice of all those who put themselves at risk to save lives at sea. By joining the international SAR community in this tribute, we acknowledge not only Bill and Frank’s service, but the commitment of all maritime SAR personnel who answer the call to help others in times of need

Marine Rescue New South Wales has requested messages of condolence via a link in our bio - these will be compiled into a book and shared with Bill and Frank’s families, as well as the Ballina team

Let us also remember Matthew Clayton who also lost his life in this tragic incident Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all three men, and the Ballina team at Marine Rescue New South Wales
