Sharing news of this FREE filmmaking workshop for young people aged 12 to 16.
Run by a young filmmaker, this workshop is designed to help young people build confidence, teamwork, communication, and storytelling skills.
Participants, in groups, will create 4 main film projects across the workshop, alongside smaller creative challenges and mini projects throughout. Each session will conclude with a screening of the films created during that session, allowing everyone to showcase their work and celebrate each team's ideas.
Session 1: Lights, Camera, Create!
introduces filmmaking roles, shots, pacing and the first team film
Meet the group through fun icebreaker activities and games before exploring the key roles within a film crew. You'll discover how different camera shots, angles and pacing can influence the audience's emotions and learn how filmmakers use these techniques to tell compelling stories. You'll then put your new skills into practice in an exciting team filmmaking challenge!
Session 2: Directing the Story
focuses on character blocking, dialogue and developing their personal creative vision to life on screen
Build on your filmmaking skills by learning how directors position actors within a scene and how conversations are filmed to create different moods and meanings. Through creative storytelling activities and another practical film challenge, you'll experiment with these techniques and practice making purposeful creative decisions.
Session 3: The Filmmaking Finale
engaging in collaborative challenges, creative prompts and producing final films across different genres
Put everything you've learned across the workshop into practice with a series of exciting collaborative filmmaking challenges. You'll work with your team to respond to creative prompts, take on different filmmaking roles and experiment with new ideas. Working across different themes and genres, you'll create two final short films and bring your ideas to life on screen.
