📣 Trustee Announcement 📣

We’re thrilled to welcome Zoé Whitley back to the Board of Trustees of Gasworks and Triangle Network ✨

Zoé is an independent curator and contemporary art historian. She previously held curatorial roles at the V&A, Tate, and the Hayward Gallery (2003–2019), and served as Director of Chisenhale Gallery from 2020 to 2025.

Bringing intersectional and multidisciplinary perspectives into the canon, her work has helped reshape how institutions engage with living artists. She is the recipient of a 2026 Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Residency, the author of a forthcoming major monograph on Barbara Kruger, and the official biographer of Betye Saar. Alongside Gasworks and Triangle Network, she is also a trustee of the Teiger Foundation in New York and Sir John Soane’s Museum in London.

We are delighted that Zoé is rejoining the Gasworks and Triangle Network family, having previously served as a Trustee in 2019-20, prior to her appointment at Chisenhale Gallery. We look forward to learning from her experience, insight, and longstanding commitment to supporting artists.

🇩🇿 Announcing Ghyzlène Boukaïla from Algeria who will be joining us for a residency at Gasworks from 30 September – 15 December 2026! 🇩🇿

Combining film, immersive installation, and sculpture, Ghyzlène Boukaïla’s practice questions the thresholds of reality and fiction. Drawing on historical and/or archival research, her work often challenges existing narratives, through a process of opening, and producing, new speculative realities.

At Gasworks, she will focus on material research for her next film. The project explores the Mediterranean Sea as a territory and explores the reappropriation of this site of passage. Ghyzlène will visit archives and museums as inspiration for archaeological elements in the film, experimenting with objects and sculpture.

Ghyzlène Boukaïla’s residency is supported by Selim & Houda Bouafsoun.

Just two weeks left to catch Bardo Loops by Gabriel Abrantes at Gasworks! 🎹 👀

Drawing on his love of animation, Pixar and Disney films, alongside existential questions about humanity and the world we live in, Gabriel created Bardo Loops. Behind each ghost is a real actor whose expressions and movements were translated into animation. Animators recreated every gesture — from raised eyebrows to moving fingers and shoulders — to achieve the emotional intensity experienced throughout the installation.

Stop by this weekend!

We are open 12–6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, just under a 10-minute walk from Oval and Vauxhall stations 🚉

🗓 Exhibition runs 16 April – 14 June 2026
📍 Gasworks, London

✨ EVENT UPCOMING: FOR LIVING AND DYING OTHERWISE ✨

Throughout 2026, XYZ Projects — Jaunts and Dr Ravi Piccus — have been working with a group of TLGBQIA+ participants to imagine alternative visions of the care home. Together, they have been exploring architectures and systems of care that can hold stories of transition, ageing, and becoming for living and dying otherwise.

Join us for a special installation marking the end of XYZ Projects’ residency, and explore interactive relics shaped through conversations developed during the f.l.a.d.o workshops with participants.

Incorporating audio, video, and sculpture, the exhibition offers insight into discussions around the realities of the UK’s current care-home system, and how collaboration and cooperation might radically reshape our futures.

📅 Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June, 12–6pm

🟢 Congratulations to Gasworks exhibiting artist alumnus Trevor Yeung on his first institutional solo exhibition in France, Garden of the Nine Suns, at CAPC Musée d’art Contemporain de Bordeaux 🟢

Inspired by the Chinese mythological folklore in which Hou Yi shoots down nine of the ten suns after their chaotic convergence, the exhibition transforms the main hall into a giant vivarium immersed in green light. At its centre, a scaffolding bridge invites visitors to rise through the space and experience the installation from a different perspective. The structure also acts as a wishing tree, where audiences are invited to hang coloured ribbons throughout the exhibition, gradually forming a rainbow in progress.

Trevor Yeung’s practice draws on botanical ecology, horticulture, and aquarium systems to explore desire, vulnerability, and the emotional structures that shape human relationships. Across immersive environments and sculptural installations, his works give physical form to both natural phenomena and personal longing.

✨ Garden of the Nine Suns runs until 20 September 2026 📅 If you happen to be in Bordeaux this summer, make sure to pay it a visit!

🌼 EXHIBITION LOADING… 🌼

THUY TIEN NGUYEN: PRESS, RELEASE

Gasworks presents a major new commission and the first UK solo exhibition by Hanoi- and Frankfurt-based artist Thuy Tien Nguyen.

Working with sculpture and installation, Tien examines personal and collective memories by exploring how they are adjusted, translated, and reconstructed over time. By juxtaposing materials, she questions the narrative associations attached to commonplace objects, creating spaces that feel familiar yet distorted.

Commissioned by Gasworks and Thailand Biennale, the exhibition will take the form of a skeletal conveyor belt installation combining Vietnamese, Thai, and British vernacular objects and sound. Evoking a system that circulates, compresses, and categorises, the work reflects on how identities and memories are formed, fragmented, and circulated like a lost suitcase.

🗓 9 July – 13 September 2026
Preview: Wednesday 8 July, 6:30–8:30pm

Thuy Tien Nguyen’s exhibition is commissioned by Thailand Biennale, Phuket and Gasworks, London. Supported by the British Council Biennials Connect, Henry Moore Foundation, Art Fund, and public funding from Arts Council England.
