Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

As a community garden our number one purpose is to offer green space in an area where few people have their own gardens and there is little public green space. This means that we do not hire the Garden or any part of it for private events or book tables. We operate as a not-for-profit social enterprise and most of the Garden's income is generated from our café. We are continuing to crowdfund to make up for the financial losses incurred during the COVID lockdowns and restrictions.

It's time for Dalston Pumpkin Lantern Festival at the Garden once more, and this year we are happy to say that we are holding our Community Pumpkin Carving Weekend for the first time since 2019!

Children (accompanied by an adult) young people and adults are all welcome to come along to carve a pumpkin. All of the lanterns then stay in the Garden to be lit up together with all of the others on 'Light Up Nights', from 6pm daily, Monday 28 October - Friday 1 November.*

We do not take bookings for pumpkin carving sessions - it's on a first come, first served basis. We ask everyone to make a donation to help cover the cost of the pumpkin. We recommend £3 - £5. For all the details you need to plan your visit, please visit www.dalstongarden.org

*We will light up any lanterns that are still intact on the first weekend of November - but we expect this to be a small display.

On day 22 of we are shining a light on the brilliant Core Claptonwho offer affordable or free pain treatments to people on low income because as they say; “everyone deserves to be free of injury, chronic pain or physical stress, whatever their income.”

This winter they are fundraising to be able to offer 1000 free sessions for 'At Home Carers' of disabled and elderly people, who live in East London and suffer from chronic back pain. You can read about how their sessions have helped carers in the past here: https://www.coreclapton.org/blog/osteopathy-for-carers and support their appeal by donating here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/kindest-hearts-in-hackney

For Day 21 we’re giving a big shout out for Future Hackney who work with communities in East London, documenting social change through photography & story-telling.

Look out for their brilliant street galleries around Hackney.

You can find out more information about the project at their website: https://futurehackney.com/ where you can also read the stories of some of the people photographed, in their own words.
