PENHA LOOKS FOR TWO NEW TRUSTEES
The Pastoral and Environmental Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA) is an African-led and inspired charity, established since 1989. Its mission is to reduce poverty among the pastoralists in the Horn of Africa through the empowerment of communities and to foster sustainable and dignified livestock-based and non-livestock-based livelihoods. PENHA’s Aims and Objectives
- Sustainable livelihoods require a coordinated approach at the grassroots and policy levels. PENHA, therefore, commits itself to two goals:
- The social, cultural and economic integration of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in the Horn of Africa
- Dynamic, diversified and sustainable pastoral and agro-pastoral livelihoods, with expanded access to information, technology, education and training
- A full and equal role for pastoral and agro-pastoralist women in public and economic life
- Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
- Development of links with the diaspora in the UK

PENHA has a team in the London Office and country chapters in the Horn of Africa region – in Ethiopia and Somaliland - and works with partners in Sudan, Eritrea, Kenya and Uganda as well as international partners outside the Horn of Africa.

In the UK PENHA has a Board of Trustees, a number of research associates and volunteers. PENHA’s Board of Trustees is looking for two trustees to join the London-based Board with experience in one or more of the following areas:
• A legal background, with financial and risk management experience;
• Knowledge of branding, marketing and fundraising, including the use of social media;
• Knowledge of charity sector and employment law in the UK.

In addition, candidates should have an understanding of the context within which charities operate, ideally with some experience of the Horn of Africa region.

The post is unpaid and the time commitment is four to six meetings per year, with attendance at other occasional meetings and events as a representative of the charity.

As a small charity, trustees contribute actively as part of a team in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. PENHA is currently undergoing a new strategy development process and the candidate will help steer the organisation through the challenges ahead. The Board is responsible for submitting the Annual Report and Accounts to the Charity Commission and to Companies House.

In addition, Board members are responsible for:
• Ensuring that the organisation complies with its constitution/memorandum and articles of association, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
• Ensuring that the organisation pursues its objects as defined in its governing document
• Ensuring that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
• Safeguarding the good name and values of the organisation
• Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation
• Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation
• Protecting and managing the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the organisation’s funds
• Appointing the senior staff and monitoring their performance

እዞም ስደተኛታት መንእሰያት ዝሓሸ መጻኢ ናይ ምህናጽ ዓቕሚ ኣለዎም። እዚ ውድድር ድማ፡ ምስ ጾታዊ ዝምድናታት ዝተኣሳሰር ውልቃዊ ተመኩሮታቶም ዘስተንትኑሉ ዕድል ዝኸፍተሎም ይኽእል’ዩ። እዚ ንጥፈት፡ ዛንታታቶም ወይ ዛንታ ካልኦት ብምጽሓፍ ከሳትፎም ይኽእል። እዚ ድማ ንቕሓቶም ኣብ ጾታዊ ዝምድናታትን ጾታዊ ርክብን ንክውስኽ፡ ክፍጸም ዝኽእል ገበናት ኣብ ምክልኻል ክሕግዞም፡ ነቲ ዘጋጥሞም ብድሆታት ኣብ ምስጋርን ከምኡ’ውን ሕጋዊ ምኽሪ ወይ ሓገዛት ኣብ ዝደልዩሉ እዋን ኣበይ ከምዝረኽቡ ክፈልጡን ክሕግዞም ይኽእል።

መምርሒ ንተሳተፍቲ ውድድር

- ክሽፈኑ ዝኽእሉ ኣርእስታት - ጾታዊ ትምህርቲ፡ ጾታዊ ዓመጽ፡ ፍቓድ ሕጋዊ ዕድመ ምምስራት ጾታዊ ዝምድና፡ ምስ ዝምድናታት ዝተኣሳሰር ባህላዊ ፍልልያትን ምርድዳእን ወዘተ... እቲ ዛንታ፡ ምስ ጉዕዞ ናብ ዓዲ እንግሊዝ ምምጻእ ወይ ኣብ ዓዲ እንግሊዝ ምስ በጽሑ ዘጋጠሞም ተመኩሮ ኣብ ዝተኣሳሰሩ ጉዳያት ክኸውን ይኽእል።
- ምስዞም ኣብ ላዕሊ ዝተጠቕሱ ኣርእስታት ዝተኣሳሰር ካብ 1-2 ገጽ ወይ 1000 ቃላት ዝሓዘ ዛንታ ምፍራይ። እቲ ዛንታ ኣዝዩ ሓጺርን ብቐንዱ ኣብቲ ቴማ ዘተኮረ ክኸውንን ይግባእ። ልዕሊ 2 ገጽ ዘለዎም ዛንታታት ብገምጋሚት ኮሚቴ ኣይክግምገሙን ኢዮም። ተወዳደርቲ ብሓንቲ ዝሕፍቲ ጥራይ ይወዳደሩ።
- እቲ ዛንታ ብቛንቛታት እንግሊዝኛ፡ ኣምሓርኛ፡ ዓረብኛ፡ ኦሮሚኛ፡ ትግርኛ፡ ሶማሊኛን ካልኦት ቛንቛታት ቀርኒ ኣፍሪቃን ክጽሓፍ ይከኣል።
- ዕድመ ደረጃ፡ 16–25። እቲ ጸሓፊ ኣብዚ ክሊ ዕድመ’ዚ ክኸውን ይምረጽ። እንተኾነ ግን፡ እቲ ውድድር ንዝኾነ ሰብ ክፉት ኢዩ - እንተላይ ነቶም ንመንእሰያት ዝተሓጋገዙ ሰራሕተኛታት ማሕበራዊ ጉዳያት የጠቓልል።
- ተወዳደርቲ ወይ ኣበርክቶ ዝገብሩ ጸሓፍቲ ተቐማጦ ዓዲ እንግሊዝ/ዓባይ ብሪጣኒያ ጥራይ ይኾኑ።
- ስነ-ጽሑፋዊ ስርሕ እቶም ስነ-ጥበባውን ክግምገም ኢዩ። ዝበለጹ ዛንታታት ድማ ሽልማት ክረኽቡ ኢዮም። ማለት ዛንታኻ እንተተመሪጹ £100 ክትሽለም ኢኻ። ዋንነትን መሰል ጸሓፍን ናይ ደረስቲ ይኸውን።
- እቶም ዝተመርጹ ዛንታታት ብመልክዕ ንእሽቶ ዲጂታላዊ መጽሓፍ ኣብ ወርሒ ግንቦት 2023 ክሕተሙ ኢዮም።

يواجه المهاجرون من شرق أفريقيا مصاعب اجتماعية-اقتصادية متعددة حال وصولهم الى المملكة المتحدة. وبسبب حاجز اللغة والاختلافات الثقافية وعدم فهم القوانين والأنظمة البريطانية، فإن العديد منهم يواجه مشاكل متنوعة بما فيها وقوعهم ضحايا للتعسف الجنسي أو اتهامهم بها من قبل آخرين. يمكن أن يؤدي ذلك كله الى سجنهم وتدوين اسمائهم ضمن سجل مرتكبي الجرائم الجنسية. ولذلك، سنقص عليكم ثمان قصص تتعلق بالتعسف الجنسي والعمر القانوني للموافقة على ممارسة الجنس والفروقات في فهم العلاقات الجنسية ما بين موطنكم الأصلي والمملكة المتحدة. تُجرى هذه المسابقة الأدبية (للتوعية) بين أولئك المهتمين من الشباب من المملكة المتحدة وستشارك في مشروع "ما بعد إدارة التوقعات: دعم اندماج اللاجئين في مقاطعة كينت".
لهؤلاء الشباب إمكانيات بناء مستقبل أفضل ويمكن لهذه أن تكون فرصة لهم للتعبير عن تجاربهم الشخصية فيما يتعلق بالعلاقات الجنسية. أي إن هذا النشاط الأدبي يمكن ان يشغلهم بكتابة قصصهم أو قصص الآخرين، بما يساعد في زيادة توعيتهم عن النوع والعلاقات الجنسية ومنع الجرائم المحتملة والتغلب على المصاعب العاطفية التي يواجهونها وتشجيعهم في الحصول على مشورة قانونية عند الحاجة.

خطوط توجيهية
• مواضيع يمكن تغطيتها – التثقيف الجنسي، التعسف الجنسي، السن القانونية للموافقة (على ممارسة الجنس)، الفروقات الثقافية والتفاهمات ذات الصلة بالعلاقات الخ. يمكن للقصة ان تشير الى حالات تتعلق برحلتهم الى المملكة المتحدة أو بتجربتهم حال او بعد وصولهم الى المملكة المتحدة.
• كتابة صفحة او صفحتين تتعلق بالمواضيع المذكورة اعلاه. ينبغي على القصة ان تكون قصيرة جداً وتركز أساساً على الموضوع. ستُهمل القصص الأطول من صفحتين من قبل لجنة المراجعة.
• يمكن أن تُكتب القصة باللغة الانكليزية، الأمهارية، العربية، عفان اورومو، التغرينية, الصومالية وغيرها من لغات القرن الأفريقي.
• المجموعة العمرية: 16-25. ينبغي على الكاتب ان يكون بهذه المجموعة العمرية مع ان المسابقة مفتوحة للجميع، مثل موظفي الدعم الاجتماعي.
• على الكُتاب المشاركين ان يكونوا من المملكة المتحدة.
• سيتم تقييم اعمالهم الفنية والأدبية وستحصل أفضل القصص على جوائز. إذا اختيرت قصتك فستنال جائزة بقيمة 100 جنيه استرليني.
• ستُنشر القصص المختارة على الانترنت ضمن كُتيب في شهر مايو/أيار 2023.

የምስራቅ አፍሪካ ስደተኞች እንግሊዝ እንደደረሱ በርካታ ማህበራዊና ኢኮኖሚያዊ ችግሮች ያጋጥሟቸዋል። በቋንቋ አለመቻል፣ የባህል ልዩነቶች እና የእንግሊዝ አገር ህግን ካለመረዳት የተነሳ ብዙዎቹ የተለያዩ ችግሮች ያጋጥሟቸዋል፣ በፆታዊ ጥቃት ሰለባ መሆንን ወይም በሌሎች በዚህ በጾታዊ ጥቃት መከሰስን ጨምሮ። እነዚህም ሁኔታዎች ወደ እስራት እና ወደ ጾታዊ ጥቃት አጥፊዎች መመዝገቢያ ሊያመራቸው ይችላል። ስለዚህ፣ ከፆታዊ ጥቃት ጋር የተያያዙ ስምንት ታሪኮችን፣ የ(ወሲባዊ) ፍቃድ ህጋዊ ዕድሜ፣ እና በትውልድ ሀገርዎ እና በእንግሊዝ መካከል ያለውን የፆታ ግንኙነት የመረዳት ልዩነትን የሚያስረዳ መሆን አለበት። በእንግሊዝ አገር በመጡ ወጣቶች መካከል የሚካሄደው ይህ ግንዛቤአዊ የሥነ ጽሑፍ ውድድር ለ ‘Beyond managing expectations: Supporting the integration of refugees in Kent'’ ፕሮጀክት ላይ አስተዋፅኦ ያደርጋል።

እነዚህ ወጣቶች የተሻለ የወደፊት ሁኔታን የመገንባት አቅም አላቸው፣ እና ይህ ከጾታዊ ግንኙነት ጋር በተያያዙ ግላዊ ልምዶቻቸው ላይ እንዲያንፀባርቁ እድል ሊፈጥርላቸው ይችላል። ይኸውም ተግባር ታሪኮቻቸውን ወይም የሌሎችን ታሪክን በመጻፍ ሊያሳትፋቸው ይችላል፣ ይህም ስለሥርዓተ፡ፆታ እና ስለ ፃታዊ ግንኙነት ያላቸውን ግንዛቤ ለማሳደግ፣ ሊከሰቱ የሚችሉ ወንጀሎችን ለመከላከል፣ የሚያጋጥሟቸውን ስሜታዊ ችግሮችን ለመቋቋም እና በሚያስፈልግበት ጊዜ ምክር እና ህጋዊ እርዳታን እንዲፈልጉ ለማበረታታት ያስችላል።

መመሪያ
• በሥነ ጽሑፍ ሊሸፈኑ የሚችሉ ርዕሰ ጉዳዮች፡ ጾታዊ ትምህርት፣ ጾታዊ ጥቃት፣ የፈቃድ ዕድሜ፣ የባህል ልዩነቶች እና ከግንኙነት ጋር የተያያዙ ግንዛቤዎች፣ ወዘተ። ታሪኩ ወደ እንግሊዝ በአደርጉት ጉዞ ወይም ወደ እንግሊዝ ከገቡ በኋላ ከአጋጠማቸዉ ልምድ ጋር የተያያዙ ጉዳዮችን ሊያመለክት ይችላል።
• ከላይ ከተጠቀሱት ርእሶች ጋር የተያያዘ ባለ 1-2 ገጽ ወይም 1,000 ቃላት የያዘ ታሪክ ማዘጋጀት። ታሪኩ በጣም አጭር እና በዋናነት በጭብጡ ላይ ማተኮር አለበት። ከ 2 ገጽ በላይ የሆኑ ታሪኮች ኮሚቴው ግምገማ ውድቅ ይሆናሉ።
• ታሪኩ በእንግሊዝኛ፣ በአማርኛ፣ በአረብኛ፣ በአፋን ኦሮሞ፣ በትግርኛ፣ በሶማሊኛ እና በሌሎች የአፍሪካ ቀንድ ቋንቋዎች ሊጻፍ ይችላል።
• የዕድሜ ቡድን፥ 16-25። ፀሐፊው በዚህ የዕድሜ ክልል ውስጥ ቢሆን ይመረጣል፣ ነገር ግን ውድድሩ ለማንም ክፍት ነው፣ እንደ ወጣቶችን እንደሚረዱ ድጋፍ ሰጪ ሰራተኞችን ይጨምራል።
• እያንዳንዱ ተወዳዳሪ በአንድ የሥነ ጽሑፍ ብቻ መወዳደር ይችላል - እና መግባት ያለበት በኦን ላይን ብቻ ነዉ።
• የባለቤትነት መብት፦ ፀሀፊው/ዋ የፅሁፉ ህጋዊ ባለቤት ነዉ/ናት።
• የሥነ ጽሑፍ ተወዳዳሪዎች ከእንግሊዝ አገር መሆን አለባቸው።
• የጥበብ እና የሥነ ጽሑፍ ስራዎቻቸው ይገመገማሉ፡ እና ምርጥ ታሪኮች ይሸለማሉ። ይኸውም የተወዳደረው የሥነ ጽሑፍ ሥራህ ከተመረጠ £100 ያሸልማል።
• የተመረጡት ታሪኮች እንደ ትንንሽ መጽሐፍ በዲጂታል መልክ በግንቦት 2023 ይታተማሉ።
• ለመወዳደሪያ ክፍያ አያስፈልግም።
