🌟 What a fantastic day at Cheshire Young Carers ! Young carers explored their creativity as part of our inspired:arts programme.

🎨 Over the May half term, the young carers got stuck in, making paper lanterns that showcased their individuality!

🧠 This , we're highlighting the spaces where carers can explore their identities outside of their caring roles. Carers give so much of themselves every day, and so often have to put the needs of others before their own.

❤️ At Create, we aim to create spaces where carers can discover their unique creative voices, express themselves and, most importantly, have fun!

Thank you to St James's Place Charitable Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund for funding this project.

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the incredible young and adult carers we have the privilege of working with across the UK. ❤️

🌟 Carers provide vital support to family members and loved ones, often balancing their caring responsibilities alongside work, education, friendships and their own wellbeing.

🎨 Through our projects, Create uses the creative arts to provide opportunities for carers to focus on themselves, connect with others and explore their creativity.

Whether it's trying animation for the first time, creating artwork alongside peers, taking part in drama workshops or sharing stories through music and writing, these projects create space for confidence, self-expression, respite and joy.

✨ This Carers Week, we want to say thank you to all carers. Your contribution is invaluable and you deserve opportunities to create, connect and thrive!

Thank you to our funders: The Chetwode Foundation, John Lyon's Charity, The Jessie Spencer Trust, Johnston Nijman Foundation, The National Lottery Community Fund , Reed Smith LLP , Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust, St James's Place Charitable Foundation, White Stuff , Worshipful Company of Coopers and Yellowcat.

Over the May half term, young carers in Bolton explored photography, animation, collage and more through inspired:arts. 🎨

For many young carers, opportunities to focus on themselves can be few and far between. Through inspired:arts, participants can try new creative activities, build confidence and connect with other young people who understand their experiences.

That sense of connection is a vital part of the programme. Spending time with peers who share similar responsibilities can help young carers feel seen, supported and less alone.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for making projects like this possible. ❤️

🎨 "Art isn't often seen as a proper intervention."

At our recent Create Conversations event, Dr Tola Dabiri challenged us to think differently about health and wellbeing.

🧠 While medical interventions play a vital role, Dr Dabiri argues that we've become so focused on treating illness that we can overlook the wider factors that influence our health - including social connection, purpose, creativity and community.

At Create, we see every day how creativity can help people build confidence, reduce isolation, express themselves and strengthen wellbeing. Supporting health shouldn't just be about treating what's wrong. It's should be about helping people thrive!

💬 What role do you think creativity should play in health and wellbeing?

How do we create meaningful, safe and creative spaces for vulnerable adults?

Last month, artists and project managers from across the Create network came together for EXPLORE - a day of learning, reflection and shared practice focused on working with vulnerable adults.

A huge thank you to our contributors:
✨ Tony Collins-Moore, Carers Centre Tower Hamlets
✨ Alice Dias, Carers' Hub Lambeth
✨ Martin Murphy, Writer, Director, Performer and Workshop Leader

As we prepare for Create Week (1-7 July), these conversations feel especially important. If creativity is for everyone, we must continue learning how to create spaces where everyone feels safe, welcome and able to take part.

🌟 Young carers on our recent inspired:arts project in Sutton explored puppetry, experimenting with movement, storytelling and most importantly, play!

🔦 The sessions were filled with joy and creativity as participants brought their ideas to life through light and shadow.

❤️ At Create, we see every day how the arts help young people build confidence, connect with others and discover new ways to express themselves. This project was a wonderful reminder of the joy that can emerge when creativity is given space to flourish.

In our recent creative:voices project in Croydon, participants explored textile weaving and collage alongside Create artist Renata 🎨

Through the workshops, carers experimented with different materials and techniques while taking time to focus on themselves, connect with others and express themselves creatively.

creative:voices creates space for adult carers to step away from the pressures of caring responsibilities and prioritise their own wellbeing through the arts!
