The Story Behind the Counter 🔪
World of Fish is a proper family legacy. Bryan’s dad, Alan, first set up shop back in 2000, with Bryan joining him a couple of years later to shape World of Fish into the local staple it is today. Alan took a well-earned retirement just before Covid, and Bryan has been flying the flag for top-quality coastal fishmongery ever since.
Looking Ahead: The Next 10 Years 🔮
The industry is shifting, but Bryan’s view on the future is straightforward—focus on craft and service:
"I think it’s going to get harder for us, and it will be survival of the strongest. But true fishmongers who stick to high-quality fish and proper customer service are the ones who will thrive."
With over 25 years of strong trade, quality and outstanding customer service and feedback, I can see them thriving for years to come! NFF
What Happens Before Fish Hits the Counter 🌊
When asked what he wishes the public understood better, Bryan pointed straight to the real journey behind every single catch:
The Reality at Sea: The enormous overheads fishermen face before setting sail—fuel, bait, crew wages, specialized gear, and heavy insurance.
The Logistics: Moving fresh catch rapidly across the UK transport network to keep quality at its peak.
Mother Nature in Charge: Bad weather means boats stay tied up and catches drop—you can't turn on a tap for wild seafood.
A huge thank you to Bryan for taking the time to share his journey and representing the heart of independent fishmongery! 👏
