Our peace sculpture, 'Hope Will Blossom From These Ashes', is on display right now at Manchester Cathedral. Commissioned by Christian CND, it features hundreds of vibrant origami cranes folded by our volunteers, blooming like flowers out of a charred tree trunk to symbolise prayers for a nuclear - free world.

If you are in the area, it is completely free to view and well worth a visit before it leaves on 16 June.

Manchester Cathedral hosts our sculpture, 'Hope Will Bloom From These Ashes'.

Created by artist Leah Hislop and commissioned by us at Christian CND, this poignant memorial artwork commemorates the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It stands as a powerful testament to our ongoing commitment to a world free from the threat of nuclear weapons.

The installation features origami cranes meticulously folded by volunteers as part of our 2024 Christian CND 1,000 Cranes Campaign. In Japanese tradition, the crane is a symbol of healing and hope. Within this exhibition, each individual crane represents a person offering a prayer for global peace.

We are incredibly grateful to the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, whose generous grant funding made this project possible.

The sculpture is available to view at Manchester Cathedral from 17 May, through to 16 June.

From today, 14 May, through to Pentecost on 24 May, Christian CND is joining millions of Christians worldwide in a global wave of prayer. This year, our daily reflections are inspired by the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 as we pray for a world rooted in love, justice, and peace.

We believe that God’s vision for the world is incompatible with the threat of nuclear weapons. Throughout these 11 days, we’ll be praying for:

Freedom from fear and the status quo.
Wisdom and self-control for political and military leaders.
Protection for peacemakers across the globe.

This Saturday, our friends at CND, Stop the War Coalition, and Fairford Action are heading to RAF Fairford to demand an end to the UK’s role in this illegal war and to call on the government to send the US bombers home.

As Christian CND, we are proud to support this witness and encourage our members to join the demonstration!
