PESGB YP Energy Debate 2021
Wednesday 24 November | 12:45 | PETEX | Business Design Centre, Islington
Throughout the pandemic, conversations around the role Oil and Gas Companies will play in achieving international net zero targets have been escalating almost uncontrollably. In this years’ Energy Debate, we invite you to participate in the discussion ‘Will energy companies investing in renewables be successful?’.
We will be joined by our panelists Mark Ireland (Lecturer in Energy Geosciences, Newcastle University), David Linden (Head of Energy Transition, Westwood Global Energy Group), Francesca Bell (Senior Investor Relations Adviser, OGUK) and Cameron Brown (Environment & Carbon Lead, Shell).
In this highly anticipated discussion, we will look to define firstly what success looks like. Is success financial, regulatory emissions target or consumer perception driven? We will further explore, through our experienced panellists, how and if this success is achievable and if success will be measured differently on local and international scales. We hope to delve into whether the hydrocarbon extraction industry is already playing a big enough role in the road to reaching net zero and if other industries are stepping up in a comparable manner. We also aim to discuss whether consumers are taking enough individual responsibility for their own emissions targets or using big industries as a scapegoat.
We look forward to seeing you at PETEX!
With thanks to our YP Sponsors Badley Geoscience Ltd, CNOOC International, ERCE, RPS.
