🐾We have some very unexpected new visitors at the Hub! 🐾

Meet Lucy… 🐱

Lucy had been regularly visiting our Hub, and we started to worry that she might be a stray. Then we noticed she was looking rather round… πŸ‘€

Our suspicions were confirmed last week when Lucy turned up with TWO tiny kittens – just one day old! πŸ₯ΉπŸ±πŸ±

Our team have been taking it in turns to make sure Lucy and her kittens are safe, warm and fed. We’re now looking for a loving home for this little family and would really appreciate any donations of kitten food to help us care for them in the meantime.

πŸ“ Kitten food can be dropped off at:
Age UK Waltham Forest Hub
58 Hall Lane, E4 8EU

It seems Lucy has discovered what we already know – the Hub is a friendly place where people look out for each other! πŸ’™

Looking after our community is what we do every day, supporting thousands of older people across Waltham Forest. We just didn’t expect our next visitors to have four paws and whiskers! 😹

If you can help Lucy and her kittens, please get in touch or drop off some kitten food. 🐾

And if you’d like to support the work we do for older people across Waltham Forest, you can become a Friend of Age UK Waltham Forest or make a donation. πŸ’™

From coffee mornings and craft sessions to exercise groups and social activities at The Hub, we know that friendship, conversation and a warm welcome can make a real difference.

Age UK’s latest report, The Longest Wait to Leave, shows that older people can experience harm at every stage of their journey into, through and out of hospital again, because of unwarranted delays.

We’re calling on the Government and NHS leaders to take urgent action to tackle delayed hospital discharges among older people. Only by doing so can we hope to end long waits in A&E and corridor care.
