🌟 Sunday Spotlight: Meet Kate, one of our Befriending Coordinators! 🌟

This week we're shining a spotlight on Kate, who is part of our wonderful Befriending Service at Age UK Waltham Forest.

Kate works closely with our fantastic volunteer befrienders, matching them with older people who would benefit from regular friendship and support. A simple phone call, home visit or friendly chat can make a huge difference to someone experiencing loneliness or isolation.

💜 Our Befriending Service helps older people:
✅ Feel more connected to their community
✅ Build confidence and wellbeing
✅ Enjoy regular social contact and friendship
✅ Reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation

We're always looking for caring volunteers who can spare a little time to make a big impact. Befriending is flexible, rewarding and a wonderful way to give back to your local community.

As Kate says, every conversation matters, and every volunteer helps change a life.

Our Veterans Service is led by Alistair Martin and David Hale, who are veterans themselves and understand the challenges and experiences that many former service personnel face.

Whether you're looking to meet new people, enjoy regular activities, access practical support, or simply have a chat over a cup of tea, there's a warm welcome waiting for you.

Age UK Waltham Forest is looking for welcoming and enthusiastic volunteers to join our Reception team at The Hub.

As a Reception Volunteer, you'll be the first smile people see when they visit us. You'll greet visitors, help with enquiries, signpost people to services, and play an important role in making everyone feel valued and supported.

🌟 Sunday Spotlight: Community connections

It was great to be part of the Chingford Unity Festival, celebrating diversity, inclusion and the wonderful community here in Waltham Forest. ❤️

Our photo this week features Terry Day, our Befriending Manager, with Cllr Paul Perkins, Leader of Waltham Forest Council, at our stall.

We were there to chat to local residents, share information about our services and meet other community organisations.

We were also proud to be there as a Loved and Wanted partner – helping to promote a community where everyone feels welcome, valued and connected.

We're fox-cited to share these adorable knitted fox decorations hanging out in the trees at our Hub. Aren't they just fox-tastic? 🍂🧶
