Someone asked me recently what keeps me going.
I didn't have to think about it for very long.
It's my sons Patrick and Angelo.

Over the years I have sat in countless meetings and listened to people tell me what autistic people can't do.

As a mam, that's hard to hear.
But I've always looked at my sons and seen who they are, not what someone who doesnt really know them has written in a report.

They are the reason I started campaigning all those years ago and they are still the reason I carry on now.

It hasn't always been easy and there are still challenges.
As you maybe aware my sons are adults now and life can still be demanding and tiring at times.
But I have also seen autistic individuals can achieve things that nobody thought possible when they're given the right opportunities and support.
I have seen this with our charity Ambassadors and Patrons who are fantastic role models.
That's why I believe so strongly in what we do .

Anyway, that was just a thought I wanted to share.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Today, as we remember and honour the heroes of D-Day, I would like to pay tribute to my dear friend David Kamsler MBE, who sadly passed away a few years ago.

David was a remarkable man whose service to his country spanned many years. He was a D-Day veteran, a Korean War veteran, and a Malayan veteran. He also served as a United Nations Peacekeeper in Trieste.
His courage, dedication, and commitment to others were truly inspirational.

I first met David in 1999 when we were setting up Hillingdon Manor School. After reading my story in The Times, he wrote to me and offered support at a time when we were struggling. He helped us with furniture for the school when we desperately needed it, demonstrating the kindness and generosity that defined his character.

From that day forward, we remained close friends. For many years, I visited David every couple of months. We would enjoy fish and chips from his local chip shop and share his favourite Roses chocolates, which always brought a smile to his face.

I have never forgotten David's support in those early days, nor the friendship he gave so freely. His encouragement, wisdom, and kindness made a lasting difference to my life and to many others.

Today, I remember him with gratitude and affection, and I honour his extraordinary service and legacy.
Thank you, David.

You will always be remembered.

Hace a good weekend everyone ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ

Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers This Volunteers' Week ๐Ÿ’œ

Since it is Volunteers' Week, I wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to all my wonderful volunteers who support Annakennedyonline.
I honestly couldn't do what I do without you.

Whether you're sharing our posts, helping at events, supporting families, raising awareness in your local communities or simply helping us spread the word about autism acceptance, every little thing you do makes a real difference.

As many of you know, my journey began as a mam wanting a better future for her autistic sons.
Over the years, that journey has grown into a community of people who genuinely care about making the world a kinder, more understanding place for autistic people and their families.
My lovely volunteers are at the heart of that community.

You give your precious time, your energy and your kindness so generously, and I never take that for granted.
Your support helps us reach more families, challenge outdated attitudes and celebrate the talents, strengths and achievements of autistic people.

It's not just about raising awareness anymore , it's about creating acceptance, opportunities and a sense of belonging.
Every conversation you start, every post you share and every event you support helps make that happen.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing alongside me and helping Annakennedyonline continue its mission.
I am incredibly proud of what we've achieved together and excited for what we can achieve in the future.
You are all absolute stars, and I'm so grateful to have you as part of our autism community.
With love and thanks,
Anna Kennedy OBE ๐Ÿ’œ
