The Links Group Chair Dr Paula Boyden and the RSPCA (England & Wales)'s Principal Prosecution Case Manager Jason Fletcher were on the road again yesterday.

They spent their day speaking to undergraduate veterinary students at University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science about recognising and acting on between abuse of animals and abuse of people.

Thank you to the team and students at Nottingham for hosting us, and with huge thanks to MSD in the UK, who make this invaluable training for all the UK vet schools possible annually.

Dr Angela Gallop CBE, one of the UK’s most respected forensic scientists, will be speaking at our 25th anniversary conference on 25/11/26.

Angela’s four decades of work span landmark cases including Stephen Lawrence, Damilola Taylor, Rachel Nickell and the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path murders. Her books, When the Dogs Don’t Bark and How to Catch a Killer (with former DCS Chris Gregg), demonstrate how forensic science and multi-agency collaboration can transform outcomes for victims.

Where do we start?

First of all, a HUGE thank you to Gail and her team at Coleraine RDA for yesterday's incredible event, 'Safeguarding in the equine sector: Coercive control, communities, countryside, challenges, collaboration'.

We were blessed with sunshine and with over 160 registered, it was a busy day! We couldn't have done this without the support of our amazing speakers, all of whom gave their time pro bono.

The feedback has been almost overwhelming so far and we are so pleased that this event delivered important messages in a very grounded and practical way.

The Links Group were recently invited to talk to 2nd year veterinary nursing students at Discover CAFRE, the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise.

Staff and students demonstrated true practice spirit in pulling together to get through technical hitches and hot weather on their first day back, and were responsive to the message of .

The importance of the human-animal bond is literally all around CAFRE students, and it was heart-warming to see these inspirational and relevant quotes before talking with this group. Thanks to Claire and team for arranging this visit and we'd be delighted to come back next year!
