Applications are open for our Inclusive Activity Leaders (IAL) programme!

Now in its 4th year, IAL is delivered in partnership with Nike - and is changing lives.

IAL trains disabled and non-disabled people side-by-side to qualify as inclusive sports coaches.

Temi, who has cerebral palsy, has become a paid member of our coaching team since graduating. He received his IAL qualification from double Paralympic Gold medallist Richard Whitehead at Nike's London HQ - and went on to share his experiences at the Paris Paralympic Games!

This Volunteers' Week, we want to introduce you to two people who make everything we do possible 💙

Courtney volunteers with us because she knows first-hand how much sport can help. As someone with autism, she's experienced the difference it makes. And now she wants others to feel that too.

Salim joined us to learn more about adaptive sports and bring his own experiences to help people with various disabilities.

Together, they're part of a volunteer community that shows up every week to make sport accessible, welcoming, and joyful for disabled people across London.

£13,000 raised for inclusive sport 🙌

A huge thank you to Broomwood FC for supporting Disability Sports Coach through their recent Green And Black Ball fundraising event!

Three football coaches from Broomwood - James, Matteo and Stuart - visited our Community Club in Sutton to present a cheque and meet participants, volunteers and coaches involved in our sessions. They also got involved in some accessible tennis and basketball!

Support like this helps us create more opportunities for disabled people to be active, socialise, build confidence and feel part of a welcoming community through sport.

A special mention as well to Matteo, who has volunteered his time at DSC Club Wandsworth for the past four years❤️

NEW Girls Club in Wandsworth 🎉

We’ve launched free inclusive sports sessions for disabled girls aged 10+ in South London.

These sessions are all about having fun, building confidence and getting active in a supportive, judgement-free environment 💜

📍 York Gardens Library, 34 Lavender Road, SW11 2UG
🗓 Thursdays (term-time only)
⏰ 4.30pm to 6pm
👭 Female coaches and volunteers
✅ All abilities welcome

We’re also looking for volunteers to support the sessions. If you care about inclusive sport and want to help disabled girls feel part of their community, we’d love to hear from you.

We visited students at Orchard Hill College to talk about our Inclusive Activity Leaders (IAL) programme and the different routes into coaching, volunteering and employment through sport. 🏀⚽️

For many disabled young people, opportunities to build confidence, meet new people and feel part of something can still be limited.

Delivered in partnership with Nike, IAL is about more than qualifications. It's about helping people discover what they’re capable of, in spaces where they feel supported and included.

That feels especially important during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Sport and physical activity can play a huge role in wellbeing, confidence and connection, but only when opportunities are genuinely accessible. We loved hearing students’ questions, ambitions and ideas, and hopefully showing that being a sports coach is something they can see themselves doing too.

Future coaches building the confidence to make sport more inclusive 👇

17 students at Canterbury College recently took part in our Inclusive Coaching Workshop, exploring how to adapt activities so more people can take part and feel welcome.

From Boccia to invasion games and visually impaired sport, the session combined practical delivery with real-world coaching tools like STEP.

Marie Kasambalis, our Workforce Development Officer, said:
“It was a pleasure to work with such an engaged group. They really embraced the practical elements and showed a strong understanding of how to adapt activities to include everyone.”

This was our fifth visit to the college, and it is always encouraging to see the next generation of coaches developing the skills to create more inclusive environments.

Feel good Friday ✨

This week, our team was at the London Sport Awards 2026. We were shortlisted in the Enhancing the Sporting Workforce category for our Inclusive Activity Leaders programme in partnership with Nike. The programme trains disabled and non-disabled people together to become qualified sports coaches, creating a more diverse workforce and breaking barriers to employment.

While it was not our year for the award, being in the room alongside so many amazing organisations and individuals was an amazing recognition of our work.

This nomination belongs to the coaches, tutors and partners who we work with every day to build more inclusive opportunities. From workshops with students to training the next generation of inclusive coaches, we aim to keep going across London and beyond.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees.

A huge congratulations to all our runners who completed the London Marathon yesterday, including one of our wonderful Trustees, Chris Randall 👏

Despite injuries, cramp and the hot weather, Chris crossed the line in under 4 hours - a super effort!

And it gets better - Chris has raised an incredible £5,000, which is double his initial target 🤩

Every penny raised means we can break more barriers to sport for disabled people.

As the days get longer, more people are looking to get active.

But for many disabled people, opportunities to take part in sport can still be limited.

That’s why our sessions matter. Each week, our coaches create inclusive, welcoming spaces where disabled people can build confidence, stay active and be part of a community.

We’re working with more partners to expand our sessions across London over the coming months - meaning more disabled people can enjoy sport.

World Autism Awareness Day 💙

Today is about recognising autistic people for who they are. Their strengths, individuality and potential.

At Disability Sports Coach, we see every day how inclusive sport can build confidence, connection and joy for autistic children and adults.

When environments are designed to include everyone, people don’t just take part - they thrive.

At a time when misinformation about autism continues to spread, let’s move beyond awareness and towards acceptance, inclusion and action.
