David ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon in support of King's College Hospital Charity earlier this year- after recovering from keyhole surgery and overcoming several health complications to make it across the finish line in good time.

In 2024, David had an ultrasound scan of his lower back due to an ongoing issue with a degenerative disease and afterwards a cyst was found on his spleen.

David was referred to King's College Hospital NHS where doctors decided he would have the cyst removed, along with his spleen. In March 2025, David had the operation to remove the cyst via keyhole surgery.

After recovery, David unfortunately had a secondary infection in his lower abdomen, which meant he spent another week at King's fighting that infection.

David is so grateful for the care he received. He ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon to thank King’s staff for their professionalism and support while undergoing surgery and during his recovery.

Congratulations to King's College Hospital NHS which is celebrating 60 years of pioneering liver research and innovative care.

We're proud to have funded liver research since the Charity was first founded in 2016, including more than £1.6m since 2022.

The Charity has a vital role in securing funds to kick-start groundbreaking liver research projects, which have helped to transform care for patients.

"I wanted to give something back."

After her late husband was cared for on the Marjory Warren Ward at King's College Hospital NHS, Sandra chose to return — this time volunteering on the very same ward.

She supports patients at mealtimes, spends time with people receiving end-of-life care, and knits small gifts that bring patients comfort and help them feel cared for.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re thanking Sandra and every one of our volunteers helping support patients, families and staff at King's 💛

A huge thank you to the National Garden Scheme- one of our major donors to the recently opened King's College Hospital NHS Critical Care Roof Garden and helped make it possible.

The National Garden Scheme contributed nearly £38,000 to support planting in the new roof garden which enables critically ill patients to receive full medical support while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of greenery, fresh air and natural light.

We're so grateful for the National Garden Scheme’s generous support towards this innovative new space 💛

Today is the start of Volunteers’ Week, and we’d like to say thank you to all our brilliant volunteers who commit their time, care and dedication to helping patients feel calm and supported at King's College Hospital NHS 💛

Between April 2025 and March 2026, we benefited from the support of 1,991 volunteers in our hospitals. Between them, they contributed over 86,000 hours of volunteering time across more than 27,000 shifts. We also recently helped to refurbish the Volunteer Lounge to provide a relaxing space for our amazing volunteers.

Our volunteers perform the most generous and challenging work, providing care in the most difficult of circumstances, always with a smile and willing to lend an ear 💛

💛 New roof garden for critically ill patients opens at King’s 💛 🥬

A new roof garden- funded by King's College Hospital Charity – opens today which will transform care for critically ill patients, enabling them to receive full medical support, while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of greenery, fresh air and natural light.

King’s Critical Care Roof Garden is located on top of King's College Hospital NHS, which becomes the first hospital in the UK to open an outdoor critical care garden on its roof.

Being in nature can open new paths to recovery for critically ill patients, helping to reduce physical symptoms such as hallucinations. It also has a positive impact on patients’ emotional wellbeing, helping to lift spirits and improve morale.

King’s College Hospital Charity contributed £2million in donations towards the new roof garden.

A huge thank you to our generous donors who helped make this innovative new space possible- it will make a big difference to critically ill patients and their families. 💛
